Anstey (England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful A truly remarkable film, the director managed to successfully delve into the psyche of the murderer of John Lennon, portraying his mental issues and his personal obsession incredibly well. Jared Leto plays the murderer and gives a very believable performance, his complete dedication to the role was shown throughout as he gained a great amount of weight so that he could get the correct feel for the character. I absolutely recommend this film, not only for the brilliant acting, but for the incredibly accurate representation of a killers mind. chapter 27 is GOOD August 31, 2008 caliberqueen (Bristol UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Firstly Yes I am a Jared Leto fan..Lets get that out the way!!...but if I had watched the film NOT KNOWING THIS WAS JARED LETO.I would never have known.He pulls off playing Mark Chapman so well, infact to me it was really creepy,I actually found Mark Chapman to be pretty disturbing. To see the meltdown that goes on within this man over the 3 days leading up to the event is fantastic. Mark Chapman is played out, pretty much how I would have expected him to be, his mind, infact his whole being.Jared has most certanily put a lot of effort into this and it is shown throughout the film. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish. A lot of people wanted to get this movie shut down/boycoted..WHY?? As a human being I have NO feelings for Mark Chapman He deserves to be kept behind bars for what he did. but I think it is fair to let people see this movie, as I was only 8 years old in 1980. I had no idea about the assasination. Infact I'm glad I have watched it, and had an incite into this troubled man who took the life of a great man. I like the beatles and I like John Lennon's music, and I think this movie has hit the nail on the head. I do not think it could have been done any better.SUPERB. Nevertheless, one has to give this film a chance to be surprised by what appears to be an artistic approach at film making. br / br /The film has a basic concept of following Lennon's killer and trying to display his disturbed psyche and document his actions in the days before he killed Lennon in December 1980. Leto plays Chapman very well, not only looking the part but pulling it off surprisingly well. br / br /Lohan plays a Lennon fan and is featured in only several sequences throughout the film. One should note that at the time of filming around January 2006 it was prior to any drink/drug issues or arrests. I feel that she does give a good performance similar too if not stronger than she displayed in 'Bobby' (2006). br / br /I would recommend the film to anyone who will be able to put aside the boycott attitude that has for some reason been placed upon it. The film in no way disrespects Lennon nor does it show his killer in a positive light. As for Lohan, she does provide a worthy performance so I see no reason why her personal issues should stop people from viewing the film. br / Gripping With Shocks And Wonder. May 4, 2008 Ms. J. F. Jared Leto looked like a stranger with 67 pounds of fat and darkened shades but he is stunning and powerful as Mark Chapman, this is his best perfomance ever needing a award for his effort. The other co-stars were quite surpising inculding the troubled Lohan as the young fan who may or may not have fallen in love with Mark. It was totally gripping with shocks and wonder especially when Mark killed John, it gave me shivers down my spine and also when the camera was pointed at his face. Very good, I would recommend it to anyone who loved John and wondered why this deeply disturbed man would kill a icon.
