Slashingly fine stuff July 18, 2008 Mr W (Manchester, England) 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is great entertainment. There's a good cast, a lot of vampires to slice up and a great looking woman leading the way. I don't know why Uwe Boll gets dumped on so much by the gamer geek community. I enjoyed this hugely and it has all the right ingredients and does them right. Great fun.
Entertaining shlock film with a few problems. July 9, 2008 Mr. Sj Beddoes 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
This movie would be fantastic if it made a little more sense. First off, fans of the game will be disappointed by the shift of setting to a completely different time and place (Supposedly to build up to the 3rd movie which is, indeed, to be set in World War II Germany), but people who never did follow the games - like myself - will have difficulty understanding the plot and Rayne's motives as it never outright explains itself. We never really learn quite why Rayne wants to kill the vampire king until later on in the film, so it can be hard to care if she does or not, and it's not really shown how she knows to retrieve these artifacts which 'upgrade' her body so it can be confusing as to why she's going through these obstacle courses to obtain them.

br /Aside from this, Kristanna Loken's badly faked accent, and a few tacky gore effects (for something made in 2005, a few of the deaths looked very 70s), Bloodrayne proves to be extremely entertaining, with sexy vampires kicking, slicing and biting, blood spurting in every direction at all times. Those of you who had that secret urge to see blood, guts and breasts in Buffy will be satisfied by this.

br /The thing I enjoyed the most about the film, though, was it's videogame structure. Whilst the movie changes the fundamentals of Bloodrayne's story, it's probably the most videogame-spirited game adaptation we'll see for a long time. Rayne fights 'bosses' and guardians, finds keys and artifacts to open doors, navigates obstacle courses and deadly traps and collects artifacts which 'upgrade' her to give her new abilities. Very cool.

br /Give it a try. Forget the name of the director plastered on the front of the disks and the way the internet likes to lambast him and check out a really entertaining film that'll give you flashbacks to the 80s when we just had fun in our movies.
Bloody Good! June 21, 2008 R. Gray 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
Really entertaining film. Lots of action and a good story without the need for a hollywood budget. Excellent old school fantasy.

blade with girls bits July 16, 2008 whitetrashtrixie (bath u.k) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
girl from freak show turns out to be the long lost daughter of a vampire king intent on taking over the world
br /when she realises this she decides to seek revenge
br /the good - lots and i mean lots of action
br /pints of blood and a truckload of gore
br /pretty sharp pace and basic story telling so that you dont need any knowledge of the game
br /very pretty CGI castles
br /the bad- awful acting pretty much all round especially considering the names involved
br /for most of the action scenes the majority of the main stars look uncomfortable with swords especially madsen and lokken
br /the plot is also effectively the first blade film but with a girl in 18th century romania
br /so to say the least this really struggles with originality and brings nothing new in any shape or form to the genre
br /it is better than most b-movies purely because of its budget and it is easily uwe bolls best film but that said he would have to work really hard to make a film worse than house of the dead
