I must admit I have not read the book, but enjoyed the film. Contrary to the previous review, I felt Juliet Stevenson was excellent.
I wouldn't bother October 30, 2008 T. E. Mitchell (UK) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having read the book by Jodi Picoult (I couldn't put it down) I was so looking forward to seeing the DVD, what a let down, the acting was atrocious, Juliet Stevenson who is a brilliant actress (in Truly Madly Deeply) was appalling! the dog was by far the best actor and he was only in half the film! the film only skirts around the actual story, the ending is nothing like the book, and while I realise that they couldn't possibly have extended the courtroom scenes to the extent they were in the book I do think that as it is a major part of the story they could have centered a bit more around it.
br /All in all very disappointing.
Cheesy September 20, 2009 M. S. Willis This is so cheesy, it's terrible. Emily Gold's voice is the most annoying thing ever - trying to be so moving but it just makes me want to punch her. Pathetic.
Disapointed October 2, 2009 Mrs. C. A. Smith (UK) After reading Jodi Picoult's book was really looking forward to watching this DVD and with actresses like Juliet Stevenson and Megan Mulally in it, was sure it would match up to the book. What a thorough disapointment, it was a waste of time and never actually told the story about Chris Emily, their childhood together, Chris's time on remand in prison and the trial. Wish I'd stuck to the book and my own imagination!!
