Editorial Reviews:

As preposterous action movies go, iJumper/i is pleasantly unpretentious and breezily entertaining. A young man named David (Hayden Christensen) discovers he has the power to teleport (or "jump") anywhere he can visualize. After using this power to steal and make a comfortable life for himself, he pursues the girl he longed for in school (Rachel Bilson, iThe O. C./i). But as he does so, another jumper (Jamie Bell, iBilly Elliot/i) and a pack of fanatical jumper-hunters called paladins (led by a white-haired Samuel L. Jackson) crashes into David's freewheeling life. Jumper wastes no time trying to explain how jumping works or delving into the hows and whys of the paladins; this is an alluring fantasy of power directed at a pell-mell pace by Doug Liman (iThe Bourne Identity/i, iMr. and Mrs. Smith/i, iGo/i). There's a brief moment when it feels like the movie will bog down in romance and vague gestures towards character development--happily, that's the moment when Bell appears and the whole movie shifts into overdrive. You might wish that Bell and Christensen had swapped roles; Bell has a far more engaging personality, and Christensen's bland good looks might better suit a more aggressive character. Nonetheless, iJumper/i has oodles of dynamism and nifty visual effects to propel its comic-book storyline forward. A variety of recognizable actors in bit parts (such as Diane Lane and Kristen Stewart, iPanic Room/i) suggest that the filmmakers are laying the groundwork for sequels. Based on a critically-acclaimed science-fiction novel by Steven Gould. i--Bret Fetzer, Amazon.com/i

5 out of 5 stars Ignore the negativity   June 18, 2008

After all of the negative reviews I read about this movie, I was reluctant to spend money on the DVD until my son persuaded me. I was in for a surprise. This is a really good, thrills and spills action flick. Myself, my husband and my son all loved it. I'm not a fangirl of HC in any way, but I'm coming to the conclusion that after the disappointment of the star wars prequels it isn't 'fashionable' to give Christiansen a fair review these days. He did a damned good job. In fact there was a scene that had all of the grief that should have been AOTC. Definately give this one a try. I'm already looking forward to a sequel.

5 out of 5 stars Enjoyable bit of hokum   July 2, 2008

I've read all the other reviews and I think what they have missed is that this movie is just a bit of entertainment. No message, no profound statements - just a bit of fun. br / br /Effects are great and the actors don't mumble and actually can be understood. br / br /The movie was based on a book by Steven Gould whom I think poached the idea from Alfred Bester's 1956 book "Stars My Destination" ("Tiger, Tiger" in the USA) with the "Jumpers" only being able to "Jump" to places they are familiar with. br / br /But, having said all that, it's a nice little tight film. Great for a wet and windy afternoon in front of the fire. br / br /Buy and enjoy

5 out of 5 stars If only i could jump   August 5, 2008

This movie is an amazing concept and i hope more than anything they make a sequel. Hayden Christensen is very good in this despite his poor acting in Star Wars. br / br /There are quite a few things wrong with the storyline as many things are just not explained to the viewer. The reason i give it 5 stars is because it is a fantastic film to watch and i love the concept of being able to teleport your self anywhere in the world just by thinking about it. If this was possible, life would be perfect and nothing would be impossible. br / br /I am now going to buy the books, which are quite different from the film, but have not had one bad review. I just cant get enough of this concept of self teleportation. Its Brilliant!!!

Ok, before you judge me, hear me out. Jumper is a terrific film and as the first film in a trilogy it has exceeded my expectations by far. Christensen sticks to the Sci-Fi and pulls it off wonderfully, with Samuel L Jackson performing wonderfully as the villain and making the film one of 2008's must have!

5 out of 5 stars Realistic sci-fi?   October 12, 2008

This is an exhilarating film! It`s sci-fi but with a real feel-No two dimensional goody two shoes characters,no ridiculous sets,or silly gadgets-Instead flawed people in real places who react realistically,so the story flows logically and in a credible manner.I really got immersed in this film-more than anything in a long time-enjoying the jumping rather than grinding my teeth at unnecessarily silly cartoonish situations.Maybe there`s no real heroes or villains, and maybe it doesn`t follow the formula, but this is a more adult approach to superhero fantasy film making. Please, let`s see a sequel!
