How easy it is...................................... September 4, 2008 laineyf (warwickshire) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
'Loaded' is the story of Tristan, a spolt rich kid, who got involved with the wrong crowd, was involved in a death due to drugs, and was bought out of trouble by Daddy's money. Move forward a few years, and Tristan is about to go to law school, has the beautiful blonde girlfriend and yuppie friends required, and is thrown a party by his Mummy and Daddy. Since his 'mistake' his Father has kept him on the straight and narrow by overseeing his every move, keeping him away from 'undesirables' and mapping out his future for him. After the party, he goes out with his friends, and his younger brother, Hayden. He meets Sebastian, who knows him from previously, although Tristan can't remember him. Before he knows what is happening, events spiral out of control, and he is sucked into the seedy world of drugs, drink, prostitution, and murder. He ends up in a situation that no amount of Daddy's money can buy him out of, and, as his life disintegrates, so does that of his family around him, everybody being affected by his fall from grace.
br /This is a good film.Vinnie Jones is, obviously, the hard man in it, and he does it so well. The film conveys the message that it is so easy to get sucked in to this world, and that once you do, you're done for. The ending was predictable, and annoying I thought, as, once again, money talks, but that's how it really is. All in all, a good film, well played by the cast, and definitely food for thought.
Could be worse September 5, 2008 James B. Spink (Kent, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Not as bad as it could have been, but not many redeeming features either. The target audience for this film will be quite young and if you're an under 25 male you may enjoy this bit of nonsense more than you expect - late at night after a few beers!
br /
br /Some of the cinematography is very good looking and quite effective, and there is an interesting and enjoyable soundtrack, much of which was written especially for the film. Vinnie Jones as the big villain, Mr Black, has only a cameo role and sports a very dodgy accent and a hat that Spiros Vondas, from The Wire, would be proud of.
br /
br /Corey Large stars as the vengeful drug dealer Sebastian Cole, and gives what is probably the best performance in the film. He also co-wrote the screenplay and has co-written, and reprises the role of Sebastian, in the follow-up, Reload, which is currently in production, again with Alan Pao directing. The rest of the cast are semi-familiar faces who will get you wondering where you have seen them before.
br /
br /Loaded is an undemanding dose of sex, drugs and rock n roll with a fair bit of violence thrown in as a bonus. As other reviewers have commented the plot doesn't really make much sense until towards the end of the film when Sebastian's relationship towards Tristan is explained. However, it's more a film to just watch rather than try to work out any intricacies or plot twists. Catch it on the box or at a bargain price - don't shell out too much hard earned cash for this one.

This is one of those films you put on, watch and when the end comes you forget all about it.
br /
br /It's fairly violent with quite a lot of drug taking. A decent Hip Hop soundtrack tries its best to support a weak storyline. Vinnie Jones makes only a couple of appearances as the usual typecast role as the cockney rhyming slang thug surrounded by false English accented henchmen.
br /
br /This is watchable but won't win any Oscars!
Does the job. August 31, 2008 - alikat - (Brighton, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Loaded stars Jesse Metcalfe (from Desperate Housewives) who plays a law student from a wealthy background who falls in with the wrong crowd after meeting a girl at a party. The party turns out to be given by Sebastian, an old college acquaintance whom he doesnt remember. Hes befriended by Sebastian and his circle and then its all parties, drink and drugs and a good time. However its clear things are going to take a turn for the worse when he gets sucked into Sebastians criminal life of drugs, guns and murder, and the tension mounts as you try and work out where things are going and what Sebastians true motive is for befriending him. I wont go into things any further as that would ruin it.
br /
br /I found it a very watchable film, and the good news is that even though this film has Vinnie Jones in it, he only has about 5 minutes of screentime. Its not that he isnt amusing to watch, but he comes across as very out of place in this film (mainly due to the dodgy beret style hat, and his cocky accent which seem more suitable for a tongue-in-cheek Guy Ritchie type movie than this).
br /
br /All in all, whist the storyline is not the most original, the cast do well in their roles, particularly Corey Large who plays Sebastian, the film is well shot and keeps you interested for the duration.

Not great, but not that awful... August 30, 2008 Steve Bevis (South East, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Despite the torrent of negative reviews, after watching "Loaded," I don't think it's as bad as it could have been. Admittedly, anyone who buys or rents the film, particularly as a Vinnie Jones fan, will be disappointed as his screen time is less than 2minutes or so, involving him beating someone up before leaving. The movie feels like an extended episode of a TV show, with quick edits often used in TV shows like "As If," and could have done with being around 20minutes longer in order to fully extend and go more in-depth with the storyline; the fast pace means that it's not believable as it really wants to be.
br /
br /However, it's not all that bad - there are some more familiar faces, such as Jesse Metcalfe, best known for dating Nadine Coyle of Girls Aloud, or his appearance as the gardener in "Desperate Housewives," and it was fairly engaging, but it's not something I think would bear repeat viewing for anyone.
