5 out of 5 stars Ridiculously good   June 6, 2009

If you like really bad horror films which have had absolutely no thought put into them and just as little cash then you won't be disapointed with this. It's much more violent than Anaconda 2, and whilst the effects are pretty budget, this adds to the amusement. There is also some horrendous over-acting at times that brings you out in uncontrollable laughter. There are so many inconsistencies in terms of what the anaconda can do - you will notice that the anaconda can be out-run equally well on foot and by car - and it now has the ability to spit acid blood and use its tale to spear people to death. The lead actress is also quite fit and has nice breats and the only disapointment is that she does not display them or inspect the "trouser-snakes" of any of the cast (unnecessary sex is a must for films like this). Finally, the portrayal of all Eastern Europeans as backward idiots whose technology is mostly redundant is an excellent piece of non-PC-ness. They all get killed horribly and it seems the moral of the story is that they deserved it!

3 out of 5 stars A Solid entry in the anaconda series   November 9, 2008

No Anaconda 3 has nothing to do with the AUFUL boa vs. python film as someone else wrongly said before. br / Anaconda 3 is a decent snakes film not as good as the first film BUT still enjoyable full of action suspense and a lot of BLOOD. br / The snakes were frightening considering this was a direct to dvd release and u can match this movie with the first Python movie and with Boa aka new alcatraz and with the most recent flick snakes on a plane. br / If u are a snakes horror fan get this movie. U will not be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars Extremely generic, but well made movie   December 13, 2008

NOTE: I actually like this movie. I rated it four stars at first. Over time, I became less sure that doing something very well overrides how generic it is. Ultimately I thought giving it four stars just wasn't justified. But the fact I'm biased enough in favor of it to want to give it four stars says something, I think. br / br /Anaconda 3 is a very generic monster movie. There's hundreds with similar stories, and there will be hundreds more in the future. It's not scary, and aside from a couple of minor surprises, there's nothing to look forward for in terms of story. And that's what's the "Sci-Fi Originals" generally are - average, unambitious movies with below average special effects. Any real b-movie enthusiasts will know there's a lot worse than this quality of movie. br / br /Sci-Fi Originals often do feature stupidity on the part of the characters or bad logic on the part of the plot, but the vocal minority who try to give the impression Sci-Fi Originals excel at stupidity are really reaching, due to bias based on special effects. For example, who's ever seen a Sci-Fi Original with more stupidity and plotholes than, say, Michael Bay's "Transformers"? It doesn't happen. br / br /The redeeming thing about Anaconda 3 is that while it's a low-budget movie, the staff are at least aware of their resources. The mutated anaconda is black, so the skin tones and such aren't as much of an issue. Also, while the effects are at significantly least higher quality than, for example, "Supergator" and "Ice Spiders", a lot of the time the crew still aren't naive enough to show them in daylight, having many of the snake attacks take place in dark rooms and such. br / br /I should also mention the DVD features. This is the first time I've ever appreciated the DVD extras. While many low-budget movies are released on DVD with only their own trailer, this has subtitles, alternate languages and other such features. br / br /It's the amount of effort put into the movie that ultimately makes it somewhat decent, even if the plot is the kind of predictable. I will say, on that subject, that it's much better than a lot of similar movies.

3 out of 5 stars Three's a charm, but mostly excuse.   October 14, 2008

This is the second sequel of the 'Anaconda' franchise, which isn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. After hearing it would star David Hasselhoff (an amazing thing, yes! but not really a good thing), was being made by the Sci Fi channel (eek) and it's synopsis featured the words "genetically engineered" I thought... Oh No. Fortunately, I'm one of those people who loves bad movies and the Sci Fi channel has plenty of guilty pleasures for me. However, I did want a good film. If you're like me, you'll love it and enjoy the flaws (bad acting, stupid people and the unconvincing "amazon" jungle scene at the beginning). If you love the Hoff, you'll love this. br /I however, think they over complicate the story for this to really succeed and the anacondas aren't really modeled on any anaconda I've ever seen. Also, be warned, this film matches the look and feel of 'Boa vs Python'. A great, trashy film, but I wanted more for 'Anaconda'.

2 out of 5 stars Terrible film, but if you are reading this you know you will watch it.   October 30, 2008

The Hoff versus big snakes. rubbish script and acting rubbish cgi and a stupid plot make this irrestible for all fans of trashy horrors. br /I am not sure what to say about it really its rubbish but funny. In fact its rubbish and the makers knew it and played to its strengths, such as they are.
