Greaves (Hants, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Not knowing what to expect, I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1 as it's not the kind of drama I normally watch. I got Season 2 despite reading some reviews that it was not as good as Season 1 and had a muddled plot. Upshot of this - I watched the entire season in a weekend. Having finished an episode I couldn't leave any time before wanting to watch the next episode. I love the way they give you glimpses of what happens in the future, but they do it in such a way that you totally get the wrong idea about what is about to happen. Yes, the plot was more complicated than Season 1 and there were more characters, some of whom dissappear for a couple of episodes at a time, but that made it all the better for me because I love having to concentrate on what is going on and how all the pieces gradually come together. Having a couple of the actors from The Wire feature was also a masterstroke. I only have one minor criticism. In order to wrap everything up and conclude the story I felt a couple of the characters towards the end said and did things that didn't (to me) totally fit in with the character they had played up to that point. (You need to see Season 1 first) It is very cleverly written with some excellent one-liners that we keep repeating and joking about! It maintains your interest at all times by surprising you and keeping you guessing right up until the very end. I can't wait for Season 3! Don't try to second guess this one.... May 13, 2009 Mr. Pa Smith (A kennel in York) 16 out of 37 found this review helpful I'm a bit of a smart-arse sometimes. 25+ years as a psychiatric nurse, forensic specialist and social worker, I'm pretty good at reading human behaviour, especially the criminal kind, so I regard most of the psychological/criminal shows on TV as unmittigated garbage. br / 25 minutes into "the Sixth Sense" I paused the DVD and told my then girlfriend I knew what was going on, what the twist was. She told me to write it down, I did so and turned out to be right. br / I'm not trying to show off here, just to point out when I say that "Damages" is one of the best pieces of TV I've ever seen, you should take the opinion seriously. br / It's on a par with "the Wire",early "Cracker" and the first 2 "Prime Suspect" stories. Excellent acting, nicely shot and edited, very authentic (as far as my knowledge of corperate activities, top level conspiracies and US law goes!) but the real joy is the script and storytelling. Spellbinding. Riveting. Brilliant. br / For goodness sake don't try to work out what's going on, who's done what to who or anything else, just sit back and enjoy one of the best pieces of TV ever produced.
