Amazon.co.uk Review
Familiar in feel but lifted by its execution, emWild Child/em finds Emma Roberts--she of emNancy Drew/em fame--in the lead role as Poppy. Poppy is, as the title of the film hints, not the most well behaved of young ladies, and this leads her father (played by Aidan Quinn) to promptly send her across the water to boarding school in England. Thus, the stage is set for lots of culture clash comedy, and a genial little movie aimed at teenage girls. The strengths of emWild Child/em lie firmly in its cast, who happily make the most of the generally slight material. Roberts, who has to make the transformation from selfish brat to more rounded and generally pleasant human being, is on fine form, while Georgia King offers good support too. There are notable turns too from Alex Pettyfer (remember him from emStormbreaker/em?), Daisy Donovan and Natasha Richardson. emWild Child/emrsquo;s plot inevitably injects a romance angle, and treads heavily on clichés as it attempts to wring out what laughs and entertainment it can from the material. But for its target audience, you suspect it pretty much hits the bullseye. It might not be a film with much edge to it, but there is a solid hour and a halfrsquo;s entertainment here. --emJon Foster/em

5 out of 5 stars Wildly entertaining!   September 13, 2008

A wonderful girly film in the same league as 'The Princess Diaries'. The culture clash between the superficial American Poppy and the well-mannered British girls is hilariously well acted throughout, with the typical English and American stereotypes played brilliantly. The whole cast bring a huge amount of humour to the plot, whilst underneath everything you can see that the film is a celebration of friendship, acceptance and finding yourself. A must see movie!

A typical American teen, meets a preppy boarding school in England after pushing her father to the extremes. As Poppy finds her feet in England, she has to make friends and in th eprocess falls in love. All she wants to do is go home and hang out. Having got the headmistresses son (Alex Pettyfer)in her eyes and the girls support, will Poppy ever find true happiness??? An entertaining film that girls will enjoy. br /

Loved it and you will too if you take it as it comes!! Nothing serious about it, very well acted, and naturally the hottest british actor of the moment is excellent in it! The best thing about this is the american british clash and love hate relationship!! As many british sterotypes as there are american ones! br /Would make anyone's Christmas Holidays brighter!! br /I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!! I recommend hands down lol br /Go on have a laugh this Christmas!
