Amazon.co.uk Review Long before reality-show staples iBig Brother/i and iThe Real World/i tapped into the drama and high-hilarity of cohabitation, the long-running "Golden Girls" paved the way into that prime-time show format. The only difference is that iGolden Girls/i was pure fiction. Season Four stays true to the format that earned the series three Emmys and a Golden Globe Award: three widowed/divorced friends in their '50s and one octogenarian mother and grandmother all share a home and their retirement in Miami, Florida. In a season that includes a UFO sighting and government cover up; the implications of drug addiction; a late-in-life wedding; the ridiculous '80s aerobics craze--spandex, headbands, leg warmers and all; a nightmarish nursing home; lesbianism; an intergenerational love triangle; and a trip to Rose's mythical St. Olaf; the episodes in Season Four are more entertaining and often downright risqué. pThere are some notable cameos as well--Bob Hope steals the show in "You Gotta Have Hope" as the featured talent for Dorothy's hospital charity show; Richard Mulligan of iEmpty Nest/i bridges the spin-off link as the girls' newly widowed neighbor and object of Blanche's advances; Jay Thomas plays an overactive director in "High Anxiety," where the girls' kitchen is used as a TV commercial set; and blink and you'll miss a young Quentin Tarantino as an Elvis impersonator in "Sophia's Wedding". Overall, Season Four is zestier and much less earnest than previous seasons, which is exactly what works about the series: the bawdier the grandmothers, the funnier the show. --iGabi Knight /i

Finally!!! August 15, 2008 Mr. C. M. Rego (London, UK) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
The whole seven seasons of this wonderful sitcom had been released in the States long ago.
br /For some reason only the first three seasons were released in Europe or in region 2 format.

Golden Classic! February 4, 2009 C. Parks (Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love The Golden Girls...especially Sophia....her one liners simply have me in hysterics! From Rose's innocence to Blanche's belief that she is the most attractive women to grace the planet!! The Golden Girls has it all and I cannot wait for Series 5 to become available for some more Golden classics and many more laughs.
Simply the Best. November 9, 2009 E. Woodward (Durham UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Golden Girls has to be one of the funniest comedy series ever produced.
br /Non stop laughter from beginning to end and even references to obscure ( from a British point of view ) US TV shows/personalities do not detract from the inherent humour.
br /The characters are superb and work so well together with as much laughter from the facial expressions as from the actual dialogue itself.
br /A truly international comedy series which I thoroughly recommend.
