Amazon.co.uk Review Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of Earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth. Wall-E is a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race. --iTami Horiuchi/i, Amazon.com

Fantastic Blu-Ray November 27, 2008 B. A. Weston 29 out of 31 found this review helpful
I have just watched Wall-E on Blu-Ray and have to say I was amazed with the picture quality and the audio. Likewise, the film itself was fantastic and one of Pixar's best. I would like to confirm that I was slightly skeptical before buying as other reviews stated that the audio was DTS 5.1 only and not DTS HD MA as per American version. I can confirm that when playing, my amp was showing DTS HD MA on the display and was of great quality, so I can only assume it was a printing mistake on the box. Overall, amazing film, buy it now.
A Masterpiece of Cinematic Animation August 9, 2008 John Kwok (New York, NY USA) 74 out of 84 found this review helpful
Each time I have seen a film from Pixar Studio, I have been impressed not only with its animation, but excellent plot too. This time, however, Pixar Studio has rendered a true cinematic animation masterpiece, one which should be recognized as memorable as the great Walt Disney films of the 1930s and 1940s. A masterpiece which ought to appeal to kids of all ages. In "Wall - E" Pixar has a spellbinding example - maybe the first - of a romantic science fiction thriller that lacks a dull moment, even though much of the film lacks substantial dialogue. So who cares whether the robot Wall - E can speak fluent English; audiences will recognize him as an admirable and lovable creature, whose very actions remind me at least of Charlie Chaplin's dull-witted tramp (Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was the intention of Pixar Studio's animators and writers.).

br /Centuries after humanity has fled a severely over-polluted Earth for the relatively clean sanctuary of interstellar space, Wall - E toils alone as the very last trash compactor robot, in the deserted ruins of what seems to be New York City. Then one day Wall - E's fate is literally sent from the Heavens, with the arrival of a strange new robot. What follows will truly delight the hearts and cheer the souls of children of all ages. Older "children" may grasp some of the subtle sociological and political references scattered throughout the film, but younger ones will recognize that this is a film focused primarily on the themes of friendship, love and romance. A film that I am certain is destined to become a major landmark in the annals of cinematic animation; one that is a masterpiece already.

Pips The Dark Knight to Blu-ray release of the year December 11, 2008 Chris White (United Kingdom) 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
The astounding picture and sound, together with generous bonus features (particularly the feature-length, warts and all 'Pixar Story' documentary) make this Blu-ray disc my pick of the year. The fact that it's a very good film also helps of course!

br /The Pixar releases on BD so far have shown incredible attention to detail (the producers' proud claim is that not one pixel is out of place) and the aforementioned documentary includes a few HD glimpses of earlier titles yet to be released.

Pixar pushes the limits and beyond..... November 25, 2008 John Bunyan (Norwich, uk) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Not much I can say really, but the animation is seamless, timeless and superb. Comedy, pathos and downright obviousness (if that is a word)!

Wall-E is Pixar at their best and simply amazing on Blu-ray! May 27, 2009 Dragonlord (Cornwall) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The thing I love about Wall-E is the way that alot of the story and humour is done, is very much like an old classic silent film which is sheer genius. Wall-E is very cute in the way he goes around collecting old junk and compressing it into little cubes in which he builds massive skyscrapers with. When Eve arrives from out of space Wall-E's life is never the same again and what a fantastic journey is unfolded for our little hero. The animation and sheer detail in Wall-E is Pixar best yet it really is breathtaking at times. For my own personal taste Wall-E is my favourite Pixar film yet with Finding Nemo taking 2nd and Toy Story 3rd hope this helps you out.
