FANTASTIC! November 13, 2008 C. R. Buckley (Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom) 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
This really is what your BLU-RAY is ment to SHOW and what your AMPLIFIER is ment to SOUND like.
br /
br /Crystal sound quality picks up every pinch of air left in these rockers lungs and let me tell you there is plenty of that.
br /
br /The picture is pure quality showing everything so perfectly even down to the dry roasted pores in the creases of these leather faced rock gods!
br /
br /The old tv footage and interviews is fantastic to watch and breaks up the concert giving you a little resting time between songs.
br /
br /This film gives plenty of satisfaction!
This is incredible! March 21, 2009 M. J. Bassett 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'd heard about this while it was showing in cinemas but thought I'd wait for bluray, boy did I make the right decision!
br /
br /This is what bluray was invented for. You can see every wrinkle and bead of sweat. Visually the best bit is when Keef spits a burning cigarette onto the stage, I swear you can see every ember.
br /
br /Scorcese's direction is better than "The Last Waltz" and that's saying something. The picture and sound are faultless, the Stones are on fire and it really does feel like you're sitting in the front row.
br /
br /If you love the Stones or indeed proper music in general then buy this, you will not be dissapointed.
Dazzling June 14, 2009 Cristian Paul (Bucharest, Romania) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Shine A Light makes you wish there was a Nobel Prize for shooting and editing rock band movies. It dazzled me when I first saw it in a small Edinburgh theatre, it dazzles me again every time I watch the disc.
br /
br /P.S. You have to buy the disc, though, in order to see that the "Bonus Digital Copy" intended for playing on iPhones and iPods won't work in countries that lack a local iTunes Music Store, despite the fact that (a) you paid for it and (b) you are not warned about that anywhere. Lame. Lame. Lame.
Blu Ray shines quite a light September 22, 2009 Disgruntled Now this was a film worth spending the extra Blu Ray money for. Fantastic. Jaw-dropping.
Men never get old October 26, 2009 J. Bartu (Bath, UK) It is difficult to decide what is the most exciting about this masterpiece. I like the sound, guest appearances and incredible energy which transcends through the screen. Opening number sets the bar high followed by blast of hits, we born in the fifties, remember so well. I had a good laugh watching Keith smoking on stage imagining the fire safety officer going bananas. Call me old fashion but this is the one you must have!
