5 out of 5 stars Spellbinding   October 8, 2008

This is a beautifully directed and played out film, very much in the same vein as 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'The Notebook'. The performances are superb, the soundtrack pitch perfect, and the final scene will bowl you over. The sex scenes are handled with great sensitivity, you can tell that this is a film directed by a woman. Its surprising that not many people have seen it. Perhaps because of the sapphic subject matter there wasn't much confidence in giving it a wide release, for worry that it would shock a lot of audiences. However, it has stood the test of time and become a cult classic of sorts. Ultimately, it is a tale about young love and the tragedy that can result when it is no longer mutual. I could watch this film over and over again.

A movie for anyone who knows what it feels like to be completely in love but has had to hide their feelings away. This is a beautiful portrail of a romance between two girls at a bording school who have to keep their love for one another a secret. When Tori's sister barges in on her and paulie in bed together Tori tells everone that Paulie came on to her and in an attempt to prove to everyone she is not gay, she throws herself at the first guy she sees. Even though she is in love with Paulie, she is ashamed of being gay. Paulie then tries everything she can to win back her love with no holding back. A powerful and dramatic ending. Definitly a must see for all my fellow lesbians.

If you've ever been in one of these 'forbidden' love landscapes, and walked out of it alive, or even just 'intact' then you're going to love Lost and Delirous. Maybe like me, you'll wrap up warm in a favourite coat and go for a walk along the beach and allow yourself the indulgent luxury of cigarettes and thinking of 'her'. C'mon girls we all have a special women in our lives that circumstances dictated we could never have, or worse still, have but for all too short a time. How does one survive a love like that? How does one carry on, knowing that the one person who was right for you can never be with you? Knowing that she felt the same way over you, pushes you to an edge, because you know that what and who ever comes after, if there is to be an 'after', is made meaningless by her presence in your life. Sure like Paulie we react in overblown ways, we border on the hysterical, and, metaphorically speaking at the very least, like Paulie we jump into a void... because what else is there? br / br /I bought this movie to watch with my girlfriend but she couldn't bear too watch it after the first 20 or so minutes because she picked up on where it was heading ... because it was too painful... So for all those of you who would dismiss Lost and Delerious as a teenage melodrama think again...some of us are still up there, we just didn't find the courage yet to jump. Beautiful beautful film.. so sad. br / br /Rachael

At first this was one of those films that I wanted to stay away from, but between friends we decided to get it and have a watch. It was not what I expected at all, it's a love story from the beginning that keeps you wanting to watch (not in a soppy way)

5 out of 5 stars Timeless perfection   September 14, 2009
Pearce (South Africa)
Based on the budgets given for filming controversial stories, the director produced a world class ageless film. The acting is superbly delivered. The film captures the immature emotions of young people in love, where love makes their entire world turn round. Coping with rejection at such a young age is not always easily and if not seen or handled properly can and in the film, does lead to tragic circumstances.
