Product Description
pDirector Dennis Dugan and screenwriters Adam Sandler, Robert Smigel (Triumph the Insult Comic Dog), and Judd Apatow (Knocked Up) present You Don't Mess With The Zohan - a hilarious comedy about a Mossad Agent (Sandler) who fakes his own death in order to pursue his dream... To become a hairstylist in New York!/p

Amazon.co.uk Review
div class="content" If iYou Don't Mess with the Zohan/i feels like an extended and crazed sketch from iSaturday Night Live/i, there are reasons for that. iZohan/i's star and iSNL/i alumnus Adam Sandler is joined by several fellow cast members (in uncredited cameo roles) from his years on the NBC show. But Sandler also co-wrote the film's absurdist script with iSNL/i veteran writer and sometime-performer Robert Smigel. Echoes of a few of their classic skits on the show--built around high-strung Israeli characters obsessed with disco and selling junk electronics out of a New York shop--are revisited in iZohan/i and are a lot of fun to see again. iZohan/i is unbridled nonsense thrown at the wall, but with a sunny disposition that proves surprisingly persuasive. Sandler stars as an Israeli intelligence operative who fakes his death to reinvent himself in New York City as a hairdresser. Putting the lie to assumptions that any man in that professional field must be gay, Zohan routinely provides raucous sexual favours for all his older female customers. The sight of bottles of gels and hairsprays falling off shelves while the indefatigable Zohan pleasures frisky grannies is pure iSNL/i, and is funnier than it might sound. The silly story involves an old, Palestinian enemy of Zohan, the Phantom (John Turturro), showing up in Manhattan, but everything is really leading to a Big Apple version of the resolution of Israeli-Palestinian conflicts we'd all like to see on a large scale. The film is almost instantly forgettable, and there are many times it veers toward the dumb, but it also sells itself well as a nutty concept. i--Tom Keogh/ibrbr span class="h1"strongStills from I You Don't Mess with the Zohan /I (click for larger image)/strong/span table border="0" cellpadding="4" width="100%" cellspacing="4"p p tr align="center" valign="top" td img border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/Zohan/Zohan_1sm.jpg" br /tdp td img border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/Zohan/Zohan_2sm.jpg" br p /td td img border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/Zohan/Zohan_3sm.jpg" br /td /td tr align="center" valign="top" td img border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/Zohan/Zohan_4sm.jpg" br p /td td img border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/Zohan/Zohan_5sm.jpg" br /td td img border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/Zohan/Zohan_6sm.jpg" br /td /tr /table /!-- end6pak --

5 out of 5 stars Great Film   April 17, 2009

This is one of the funniest films I have seen for a long time. The jokes are so ridiculous it is just amazing. I am quite surprised at the amount of negative reviews on here, i.e. people complaining about Adam Sandlers character and the contrast between deadly Israeli spy and caring hairdresser, well that in itself is hilarious, I guess some people just don't get it.

This is one of the funniest films I have seen in a long time. With Adam Sandler you know what you are going to get, my husband and my son and myself laughed out loud (as did most of the cinema audience)all the way thru this film, this is Sandler at his funniest; but if you are not a fan don't bother to watch this film - unless you have a sense of humour.

5 out of 5 stars The mother of all comedies   September 28, 2008

Zohan, the Israeli top terrorist hunter intends to quit his job to become hairstylist. To achieve this he takes the opportunity and heads for the States... br /There is not only a huge amount of hilarious scenes, that are so beyod everything ever seen but also a hint to the political situation shown in a way that I really apreciate. No teacher's finger pointing. br / br /I love it and will buy it as soon as it becomes available.

5 out of 5 stars Laugh out loud funny   April 6, 2009

After the mess that was Tropic Thunder I was so pleased to finally see a laugh out loud film! br / br /This film could have been so bad, but the director/priducer have injected fresh life into old physical comedy...the prime example being where Sandler swims like a porpoise through the ocean...brilliant! That scene could have made me groan with embarassment but clever use of etchnology made it look so outrageous that it was impossible not to laugh. br / br /The pacing of the film is just right and even the scenes with little to no action are well enough scripted to provide a natural break. br / br /Sit back and enjoy a comedy that doesnt take itself seriously one bit!

5 out of 5 stars I loved it so much I had to write this review   November 22, 2008

The fact that I am taking the time to write this review is testament as to my belief and passion to how funny this movie is. I had to add my 'voice' to the others that recommend this movie. br / br /If you feel like laughing, and you have the capability to be laid back, and you have some sort of knowledge/interest in the Middle-Eastern conflict (though this is not essential) then watch this movie. It has made me love Adam Sandler even more. In fact, the man has cemented his status as a comedy demi-god.
