gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you.... July 23, 2009 Mr. D. Yeomans (Bristol, UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I thought it was great. Properly edgy, original stand up with great comic timing and a highly original approach. Just watch a little of her stuff on Youtube and if you rate her style u'll like this.
Come on.........this is very, very funny. September 23, 2009 P. Walsh 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm quite surprised at some of these reviews. 1 star? really?!
br /Anyway, this is how I see it.
br /I have been aware of Sarah Silverman for some time seeing her pop up in comic quiz shows, films etc. I then saw the Sarah Silverman TV show which I thought was hilarious, original and controversial - which I love.
br /All great comedy is controversial. You can look back through history and the comedy that stands the test of time and is regarded as "the best" is usually the comedy that pushes boundaries and taboos further.
br /
br /Sarah's stand up (which is what this DVD is) could be taken the wrong way. When a comic is discussing race, sex, crime, religion etc - its obviously going to push certain buttons.
br /Try and take a step back and remember that this is supposed to be funny.
br /Sarah's comic timing is superb. She plays on the audiences reactions and pushes them further.
br /She reminds me of Bill Hicks in some way. The way she leaves space in between what's she's trying to get across; she lets the dust settle on what she's just said, and then lets the audience have it with another stunning jaw dropper ("so anyway.......everyone knows the best time to get pregnant is when your a black teenager........")
br /
br /The songs and videos that Sarah performs during the show (also feature allot in her TV programme) are nothing new - comics have been using music in there set for years - but Sarah's is of a very high standard. Sometimes music and comedy just doesn't work, thankfully hers does.
br /
br /This sort of stand up isn't going to be for everyone's taste, but I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the edgier side of comedy.
br /The funniest female comic ive personally seen and one of the best comics on the circuit right now.
br /Highly recommended.

NOT her finest work April 19, 2009 C. Donner (UK) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
I stumbled across Sarah via 'The Sarah Silverman Show' which is frankly hilarious and quite original. This however is not her finest work, there are a few funny songs features (but these can all ba accessed via youtube, see: 'you're gunna die soon' 'Jewish people driving German cars' etc) but this is not a film, it is a loosely framed standup dvd, and frankly I didn't find the standup very funny which was a shame. I highly recommend looking into the Sarah Silverman Show as is great (and season 1 now available region 2) but I would steer clear of this one.
An aquired taste September 9, 2009 customer This is my first experience of Sarah Silverman and I would describe her
br /comedy as something of an acquired taste. The `Sarah Silverman' presented
br /on the stage seems to be a character along the lines of a Borat or Ali G -
br /a person riddled with some outrageous prejudices that seem to question the
br /moral standpoint of the audience. So, yes, it's a bit too clever
br /sometimes. A little bit uncomfortable at others. And it's probably not
br /quite as funny as it could be. But I must admit I find Silverman
br /intriguing and really rather brave in the subjects that she dares to
br /explore. That she is also adept at jokes about bodily orifices is
br /strangely comforting. - it suggests that she's not too intellectual and
br /calculating.
br /
br / Comedy is such a subjective issue that I couldn't recommend that you
br / make this part of your permanent collection. However it might be worth
br / renting. At the very least take a look at some of her stuff on You Tube

Not quite magic February 2, 2009 Rob G (London, UK) 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
After having seen Sarah Siverman on a couple of comedy panel shows I thought this would be a great DVD. Sadly it was not really that funny. Controversial yes but did not quite make the grade as memorable.
