5 out of 5 stars The Deaths of Ian Stone   June 5, 2009

I find it hard to understand the negative reviews on this film. br /I'd never heard of it before either but I think it's an undiscovered gem. Produced by the Great Stan Winston and the class shows. It has a similar feel about it to Donnni Darko or the original Jeepers Creepers, although it ultimately makes more sense. It's slickly made, has likeable characters you care about, has an interesting story line, very good FX and an uplifting ending. I'd definately recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars A Hidden Gem   September 7, 2009

I found this little gem in a shop for a quid and was it a quid well spent. br / br /Firstly, there is a good air of suspense for the first part of the movie. The special effects are excellent as you would expect from anything to do with Stan Winston. The acting is pretty decent which is what to be expected when you don't have a betallion of "A" listers with their ego's pumping through the movie. It is and isn't like groundhog day as the scenes or lives do change after every death. The idea of drug addicted demon like beings was a good one too. Reminded me a little of the vamp movie "The Addiction". br / br /The one thing I will say is that the concept of love vs fear is a very close to the bone one. I have studied esoteric/exoteric philosophies and it has been found that these two forces have an opposite frequency. The force of fear can cripple you, literally and the force of love can give you the ability to do anything. So in a sense the film despite a "Disney" idea it does have a point. br / br /So I would recommend this film for those who like to see past the posts.

3 out of 5 stars Lost Along The Way   May 21, 2008

Dont' expect to much from the film, the trailer would have you believe that its very scary, its has an ok story but looses the plot along the way and becomes a seen it all before kind of monster, ghost film, rather than how it starts which is a mysterious, spooky 'theres' a malevolent nasty thing gonna kill you kind of film!!! It has its moments but ultimately is disappointing, more of a tv movie.

1 out of 5 stars Nothing like ground hog day   August 5, 2008

A complete waste of money, avoid at all costs, here's why: br / br /***CONTAINS SPOILLERS*** br / br /Dispite what the review says, this is nothing like ground hog day, every time Ian Stone is killed he doesn't have to re-live the same day again, he is transported to another reality. For example he starts off as a hockey played, dies and comes back as himself but as a cab driver. br / br /The first few deaths are interesting, we then find out that Ian is being hunted by monsters, the following deaths are usually the result of him being gutted by them. br / br /These monsters are essentialy "boogey men" the film trys to glorify them by refering to them as "like vampires" but the feed on fear. br / br /I wont mention the films only plot twist but Ian becomes able to finght the monsters and can defeat them using the power of love. (no really, the power of love). br / br /The special effects are good but the film is let down by a poor cast and a worse ending.
