November 9, 2009 markymix (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful Almost everyone who saw Michael Sheen's brilliant portrayal of Kenneth Williams in the BBC bio-drama Fantabulosa! must have realised the Beeb was onto something. Showing the real person behind the clown might seem a bit of a dramatic cliché but in the hands of great writers, directors and actors can be extraordinary too. br / br /Almost inevitably more bio-dramas of comedy stars followed in 'The Curse of Comedy' series and the BBC did well to maintain the standards set by Fantabulosa!. This DVD looks like an covetable hat-trick of those dramas - but where's the amazing Hancock Joan? Although all of these films were exceptional, with fantastic performances in each, the finest of the bunch (in my opinion) was Hancock Joan with bravura performances by Ken Stott and Maxine Peake. Maybe the BBC plan to give it a separate release later but it seems a great shame it's not included in this otherwise excellent pack.
