Amazon.co.uk Review History is littered of examples of comedy shows that have been lost in translation, or have faltered when moving too far away from home. But ILittle Britain USA/I is different. And the key reason is that its creators, writers and performers--David Walliams and Matt Lucas--went along for the ride, too. p Enlisting the services of Tom Baker to do the voice overs as well, ILittle Britain USA/I thus allows itself to play heavily on fish out of water gags where necessary, but effectively transplant the humour of the show to a fresh context. This allows Lucas and Walliams to reintroduce Vicky Pollard, Margery Dawes, Lou and Andy and a few other favourites from the UK series, as well as introducing a new clutch of characters, too (an ex-astronaut is a particular favourite). p Therersquo;s a fair amount of introducing the show to a new audience with ILittle Britain USA/I, which does mean that some of the material will have a familiar, almost-recap feel to it. And it does tend to be quite bumpy, too, taking a few episodes to find its feet and its confidence. But when it does get firing, then it delivers the rude, funny jokes that the ILittle Britain/I team are rightly renowned for. In short, a successful export, and one that should develop as further series are made. --IJon Foster/I

Terrific American version December 13, 2008 Max A. Collins (Muscatine, Iowa United States) 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Why British fans insist on the common "wisdom" that LITTLE BRITAIN started out great and went progressively downhill must be a peculiar variation on the "build them up, tear them down" instinct, which is also common in the USA. As an American fan, I first heard of LITTLE BRITAIN when a Second City/SNL performer, Tim Kazurinksy, told me it was the best sketch comedy of the last twenty years. Then I watched LITTLE BRITAIN AMERICA and was stunned by its off-the-wall, inspired, character-driven approach.
br /
br /LITTLE BRITAIN AMERICA is designed to be user friendly to American audiences, unfamiliar with Lou and Andy, Carol Beer, and company; in addition, the new sketches -- the Mr. Doggie and muscle-builders in particular -- reveal the team's continued determination to do new things, and well-conceived variations on the old (Sebastian the Prime Minister, the "Bitty" family in America). They have a cutting, keen sense of American-style absurdity, and as an introduction to LITTLE BRITAIN for the wide American audience, the show is, as we say, a home run.
br /
br /As an American, starting with LITTLE BRITAIN AMERICA and then watching everything else chronologically, I find the first series the weakest with the second better and the third (with its wonderful concluding episode) the best. The ABROAD special maintained the third season's high standard, and that they could pull off what they do LIVE is almost as amazing as David Walliam's Channel Swim.

br /If you blokes are tired of Lucas and Walliams, that's fine -- we Yanks will take 'em.
Mommy I Love You More than *^!!!!!!! I love it LOL January 17, 2009 Mapoo (Sheffield, England) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
American Version of Little Britain, I love it... If you are a Little Britain fan then you will Love this... Yes some of it is same as the British one like "Fat Fighets" Just difference Characters but still funny, There is parts in it that is not Funny to laugh at though, Like the part when Marj Pulls out the Gastric Band from the "Fat Figher" I didn't think that was quite funny, but hey it's so Funny lol I love the Dog one and the "I love you more Mommy bits" Just get it to add to your Collection, they have gotta make a "Series 2" to me there is never enough Little Britain Episodes on the Series... I want more lol
It's brilliant! February 19, 2009 Peter Swift 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The new characters are brilliant, especially the body builders and the rude little girl with her mum. It was always going to be hard trying to please the American and British audiences at the same time, but they pull it off fantastically. It is probably their rudest collection of sketches too! I can't wait for the next series!
Still very funny. November 8, 2008 British Commentator (London, United Kingdom) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
After three UK series of this character comedy sketch show, plus a two part "overseas" special, this is the first series of the show set in the USA.
br /
br /It is a mix of established characters, Americanised versions of UK characters, and entirely new characters. It continues to be very funny and very rude!
br /
br /New hits are an ex astronaut living on his faded reputation, a foul mouthed schoolgirl and two over macho bodybuilders.
