Amazon.co.uk Review
div class="content" Crude, juvenile (and proud of it), iStep Brothers/i stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as two 40-year-old men, both living at home and leading the lives of 13-year-old boys, who are thrown together when their single parents (Mary Steenburgen, iParenthood/i, and Richard Jenkins, iSix Feet Under/i) get married. Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) start out hating each other as only teenage boys can--but things get even worse for their long-suffering parents when they become best friends. iStep Brothers/i gets most of its mileage from very low brow humour, but hidden among the flatulence and masturbation jokes is the suggestion that while these guys may be emotionally arrested, so are Brennan's hotshot business executive brother (Adam Scott, iTell Me You Love Me/i) and his high-fiving frat boy pals--just in a way that's condoned because it makes money. Also crucial is that Ferrell and Reilly capture adolescence in all its gruesome glory--the awkward insecurity but also the egomaniacal, arrogant self-centeredness. Mind you, this isn't the American version of iThe 400 Blows/i or anything. All in all though, iStep Brothers/i combines the adolescent humour of producer Judd Apatow (iSuperbad/i, iKnocked Up/i) and the comic chemistry of Ferrell and Reilly (who previously co-starred in iTalladega Nights/i)--fans of either will find plenty to enjoy. --iBret Fetzer/i br p span class="h1"strongStills from IStep Brothers/I (click for larger image)/strong/span table border="0" cellpadding="4" width="100%" cellspacing="4"p p tr align="center" valign="top" td img border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_1sm.jpg"br /tdp tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_2sm.jpg"br p /td tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_3sm.jpg"br /td/td tr align="center" valign="top" tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_4sm.jpg"br p /td tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_5sm.jpg"br /td tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_6sm.jpg"br tr align="center" valign="top" tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_7sm.jpg"br p /td tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_8sm.jpg"br /td tdimg border="0" src="http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/dvd/sony/StepBrothers/StepBrothers_9sm.jpg"br /td/tr/table /div /div

5 out of 5 stars The best since Anchorman   December 28, 2008

Having seen this film earlier in the year at the cinema, it has been a long wait to own it on DVD. It is already in my list of classics. Will ferrell is the best, easy on par with Anchorman and Talladega Nights. If u want a laugh a minute film get this.

I haven't seen this film yet but I bought it for a friend who raved about it. Even to the point of saying "it's possibly better than Anchorman" (one of my favourite films). br / br /I will watch it soon and am sure I will like it!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome film! Best work from Ferrell since Anchorman   March 8, 2009
Mr. J. Yeldham
I went to watch this film at the cinema with a mate with high hopes. About 10 minutes in, you're laughing straight away and won't stop until the end of the film. I have watched this film about 5 times now, and i still find everything as funny as when i watched it the first time. br /Ferrell and Reilly produce some very convincing acting to the point where you forget how old they are in the film (40 years old) instead of a young childs age that there humor, expressions, jokes and comebacks portray. br /The film does involve swearing and crude humor, but I think it is a film that can actually get away with it because it is all in good taste. br /If you're an Anchorman fan, who quotes it a lot, then definately get this film as the one liners in this are brilliant and stupidly funny. br /Get this film if you're up for a laugh and to enjoy some pointless and stupid humor. br /Thanks for reading. br /
