5 out of 5 stars I could not agree less with the last reviewer! This film is stunning!   May 21, 2009

One of the best action films of recent years, it is a film that i have watched again and again and always enjoyed. The villain is unforgettable and the fact that a central character undergoes such a transformation midway through the movie is done with real feeling. br / br /I can imagine people seeing this for the first time thinking that it would be like Spiderman or the Hulk and it would be light cinematic fluff, this could not be further from the truth. the central character battles with his personality at times stretching the morals of his butler to near breaking point. The love interest is not there to smile and be the damsel in distress but represents a lost love interest that could never be attained by Batman. This is not a movie for people that want happy endings. br / br /The film is called the 'Dark Knight', the cover of the DVD/UMD is dark, Christian Bale is one of the most revered method actors of his time and again brings a dark edge to the film. Therefore you cannot seriously expect the film to be light hearted the film is a 12 NOT a PG and it is like that for a reason! If you want to be seriously entertained stop reading this review and watch it for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

2 out of 5 stars Dark Knight - Dark Movie   March 5, 2009

Violent, incoherent and unconvincing revival of DC Comics hero by the great Christopher Nolan, this blockbuster is not movie of the year. Batman Begins was great but Dark Knight is grimly sadistic; it doesn't fight terror, it embraces it. I have absolutely no idea how it got a 12 rating. br / br / br /This blockbuster is still one of the most riveting, thrilling blockbusters of the year and the action sequences are devastatingly good, however the cons outweigh the pros. br / br /I found Batman's dialogue inaudible and i had a problem following the plot. There is no humour in Dark Knight, and any light relief that came from Batman's faithful butler (Michael Caine) in Batman Begins has been reduced to lines such as : 'Some men just want to watch the world burn.' br / br / br /Some of the plot twists, too, left me unconvinced - especially the transformation of Harvey Dent- 2 Face, which seems too sudden and melodramatic. You simply cannot introduce a new villian 2 hours into a movie, it does not work. br / br / br /In The Dark Knight, Batman has become a bore. Christian Bale (the greatest actor in Hollywood today) is still handsome, but i am sick to the back teeth of his recent monotonous, dull performances. br /Selah br /Brendan Clarke. br /PS. Anyone notice how Heath Ledger sounds like Elmer Fudd?
