Amazon.co.uk Review
The latest 'bro-mance' from team Apatow (the guys who brought us iSuperbad/i, iKnocked Up/i and iThe 40-Year-Old Virgin/i), iPineapple Express/i is the story of Dale Denton (Seth Rogan) and Saul Silver (James Franco), a pothead and his dealer who accidentally get caught up in a drug war between two gangs --with some corrupt cops, high school girls and smalltime henchmen thrown in for good measure. At its core, iPineapple Express/i is a stoner comedy--a tale of two giggling, loveable oafs in way over their heads. This formula has made for some entertaining comedy over the years -- Cheech and Chong's iUp in Smoke/i and Dave Chappell's iHalf Baked/i being two of the best examples. What sets iPineapple Express/i apart from these silly classics however, is the consistency of the humour, the perfect chemistry between Rogan and Franco and the giddily ridiculous action sequences. The movie retains the sweetness that is present in most of Apatow's films, making the charactersrsquo; poor choices and violent actions somehow justifiable. The site gags, pop culture references and perfectly timed non-sequiturs only enhance the hilarity. Director David Gordon Green, known mostly for the understated and reflective films iGeorge Washington/i and iAll the Real Girls/i, seemed like an odd choice for such a raucous and over-the-top comedy, but it turns out Green's stamp is all over this film (as is his long-time cinematographer, Tim Orr's) and together manage to turn Pineapple Express into much more than the sum of its parts. --Kira Canny

5 out of 5 stars Utterly loveable   January 12, 2009

I really, really love this movie. I don't know why, I'm not a stoner and I'm not the worlds biggest fan of dumb comedy movies, although I do quite enjoy them. I loved the characters, I loved the way it was written and filmed. I thought it was hilarious and a real quality movie, not the same old bull. My friends all seem to think it is fantastic too, we'll be buying about three copies between us at least. I think it is my favourite movie of 08, which is wierd, but there we are.

This film is brilliant! The first time I watched it by myself and for it to actually make me laugh out loud impressed me. The second time I watched it with a few friends and it was even funnier! It's such a light hearted film, ideal for chilling out with a few mates. I think this film is better than Knocked Up and Superbad. Oh, and Saul (James Franco) isn't too bad to look at ;) br /Anyway, highly recommended if you're in a light mood and wanna watch something funny =)

5 out of 5 stars Digital copy does not work on iPod!   January 21, 2009

For me this was one of the best films of 2008, one of the funniest films I have ever seen, and I couldn't wait for it to be released on DVD. br /I felt a bit let down though when I found out that the digital copy (one of the reasons I payed extra to buy this version) will not work on a iPod in the UK, funnily enough though Sony had no problems with this in the rest of the world. br /This is a brilliant film, but if you are buying this for the digital copy make sure it will work for you first. It should work fine on a PC or PSP. br /I didn't think it was fair to rate this badly because of my problems with the digital copy, so I have rated it based on how I feel about the film, and it's one you shouldn't miss.

This is by far, the greatest film of 2008, if not the funniest film i have ever seen! No questions asked!

5 out of 5 stars Simply Brilliant   January 9, 2009
Mr. Andrew Cockings
The outline of the film is about slacker Dale Denton (Seth Rogan) being in the wrong place at the wrong time, by witnessing a murder. Not know what to do, he goes to see Saul Silver (James Franco) who has been Dale's pothead new dealer for the last couple of months. The two of them go on the run getting themselves into funny and sometimes ridiculous situations along the way. Stopping every now and then to have a smoke. In the short time the two of them are on the run, they go from just being simply customer and dealer to become the best of friends. As the film goes on they try to get themselves out of trouble. But as the two of them don't have a clue what they are doing, they end up getting caught in the middle of a drug war between two gangs. All they can do is dodge the bullets and try to save each other lives. br / br /Pineapple Express was one of the best films of last year. I've been waiting for the dvd ever since I saw this at the cinema. Seth Rogan and James Franco put in superb performances, Seth Rogan is his usual brilliantly hilarious self. James Franco, who I'd only ever seen in the Spiderman films as Harry, was amazingly funny and I hope he decides to do more comedy roles in the future. The two of them worked extremely well together. br / br /But for me, I predominantly enjoyed all the one liners that seem to come from the supporting cast. I was laughing from start to finish. The fight and action scenes were exceptionally funny and had me crying with laughter. This is one of the must-see films of the year.
