Anyway.... silly, juvenile, crass and damn fantastic. No, it is not a movie to watch on a first date (unless you are feeling VERY lucky), but it is still one of the funniest things I have seen in years. This is Kevin Smith putting Clerks 2 well behind him and making a film he knew that loads of people would hate in order to entertain those of us that are bored witless by most modern comedies. This film, like forgetting Sarah Marshall, is really a rom com for boys. This, I guess, is aimed for people like myself, where the teen romp comedies like American Pie are beginning to feel a bit juvenile, but you want a comedy that is a bit saucy with some adult humour. That certainly describes this movie! As a Kevin Smith fan, I was hoping this would be good, and it certainly was. With such a controversial idea for the plot, the movie is actually quite mainstream in it's direction and ideas, unlike some of his previous efforts which had a much smaller/specialist target audience. However saying that, don't buy this if you are easily offended, with plenty of sex and toilet humour, it's not one for the kids :-) br /I really enjoyed this movie, and as Seth Rogan is my long lost twin... (according to my friends anyway) I found this especially enjoyable! It's an utterly filthy, hilarious, tender love story. The cast are all excellent, including the real porn stars, script excellent and Kevin Smith's most accomplished directoral effort to date. There are laughs throughout, but the comedic high point is a shot which shall remain in my mind until the day I die, and will be known by me as the "Sweetcorn Shot." I laughed uncontrollably for a quarter of an hour, had to pause the movie and rewind. They find themselves in dire straits on a daily basis but when the power goes out, the water is switched off, and they're possibly facing eviction, they realise how dire things really are. br / br /Meeting with an outrageous gay porn actor (a throaty sounding Justin Long) at a High school re-union, Zack suddenly has a brain-storm. Make a porno with pretty and sexy Miri decent enough to sell to everyone they went to school with. And so the journey of hilarity begins with the usual cast of Kevin Smith film regulars. br / br /What the movie lacks in modesty (and with Jason Mewes scenes there is very little modesty involved), it makes up for in hilarity, and although the body of the movie is based around in sexual dialogue (sometimes slightly crude), Smith shows that he can still write and direct an incredibly tender and awkward romance in the midst of all the comedy chaos. br / br /While the movie is probably one to stay away from if you're watching with friends and do embarrass easily, at the same times, it almost gives you that sense that it's okay to view nudity on screen (if you're laughing at it, it's not perverted or naughty, right?)! br / br /Try not to shy away from this one - it's worth the hot cheeks, the rolling eyes and the occasional gross out.
