...better again from Seagal... Keep it up... February 4, 2009 R. V. Halward 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
So the recovery continues since the nadir of Attack Force and Mercenary for Justice... Here, after the better attempts given to us in recent outings Urban Justice and Pistol Whipped, Seagal is Jacob King, a Memphis detective with a troubled past on the trail of a serial killer who leaves cryptic clues...

br /"Wait!", I hear you say, "this is very derivative", and you'd be right... I guess it's best described as se7en-lite, but hey, compared to some of the awful voice-dubbed fluff we've had to endure of late, this is a far more 'together' piece of work.

br /Seagal wrote this one, and as such he's not content to whisper his way through proceedings, he's far more engaged here than he has been for a long time. Sure, it's not an all out action flick, instead more of a cop thriller as with the precious two outings, but that's no bad thing... Seagal has failed to convince as an action hero for a while now and this more measured pace suits him better... Although, it should be said there are 3 or 4 terrific (and very lengthy) fight scenes here which are better than anything seen from him for ages, but sadly Seagal feels the need to use a body double extensively throughout (apart from the final dust-up) which is not only a shame, but also very odd seeing as he's an Aikido Master!?....

br /Never the less, this is far more coherent, better paced and well acted (including good a support performance from Issac Hayes) than many previous efforts and for Seagal fans and DTV fans in general, well recommended....

br /I loved it...
Generally a good film and well worth a look. March 23, 2009 Bookmagico (Middlesex) This is a pretty good offering from our hero. The content is ok and the action and fight scenes are all up to scratch. I'm also pleased to say Big Steve is not so big and looks a lot better and fit for it! Well done Steve!I would say well worth a look.
dvd seagal style March 15, 2009 M. J. Chevalier (doncaster south yorks, south yorks United Kingdom) not one off seagals best but good to see he is doing some of his own
br /fighting he is getting older but my wife and i still fnd him very entertaining
Better but very odd in places March 16, 2009 S J Buck (Kent, UK) As the other two reviewers have said this is something of return to form and I enjoyed watching it. Seagal's character in this, is a sort of Dirty Harry style cop, although he is given a motive for his actions because of the slaying of his brother by a serial killer.

br /The fight scenes are well done, with some trademark Seagal Akido skills on show. The actress who played the female FBI agent and Isaac Hayes both played believable characters and their acting was certainly one of the plus points of the film.
br /
br /On the downside the numerous gunfights were just stupid. Hundreds, probably thousands of rounds of bullitts are fired in this film and in total probably only 3 actually hit anything human.
br /
br /Finally the ending (which has little do with the main plot) left me very puzzled if not gob-smacked. Maybe I misunderstood but look out for this as its very strange IMO.
