Amazon.co.uk Review
The latest 'bro-mance' from Judd Apatow (creator of iSuperbad/i, iKnocked Up/i and iThe 40-Year-Old Virgin/i), iPineapple Express/i is the story of Dale Denton (Seth Rogan) and Saul Silver (James Franco), a pothead and his dealer who accidentally get caught up in a drug war between two gangs with some corrupt cops, high school girls and smalltime henchmen thrown in for good measure. At its core, iPineapple Express/i is a stoner comedy--a tale of two sluggish, giggling, loveable idiots in way over their heads. This formula has made for some entertaining comedy over the years, Cheech and Chong's iUp in Smoke/i and Dave Chappell's iHalf Baked/i being two of the best examples. What sets iPineapple Express/i apart from these silly classics however, is the consistency of the humour, the perfect chemistry between Rogan and Franco and the giddily ridiculous action sequences. The movie retains the sweetness that is present in most of Apatow's films, making the charactersrsquo; poor choices and ultra-violent actions somehow justifiable (or at least relatable). The site gags, pop culture references and perfectly timed non-sequiturs only enhance the hilarity. Director David Gordon Green, known mostly for the understated and reflective films iGeorge Washington/i and iAll the Real Girls/i, seemed like an odd choice for such a raucous and over-the-top comedy, but it turns out Green's stamp is all over this film (as is his long-time cinematographer, Tim Orr) who together manage to turn iPineapple Express/i into much more than the sum of its parts. i--Kira Canny/i

I love this film more than any other film I saw last year. It is great. I don't know why, cos I don't even smoke weed, but it is great and charming and loveable. Not much else I can say really. Also has some quality violence.

5 out of 5 stars Best stoner comedy around   July 21, 2009

I loved this film from beggining to end it is by far better than other 'stoner' comedies such as harold and kumar. The best parts of the film for me are definately the totally over the top action scenes. The two main characters are just two everyday guys that get caught up in something totally over their heads and the result is pure laughs.

5 out of 5 stars Watch the movie if your into it!   July 22, 2009

Love films appeal to single people and lovers, war films appeal to army guys and macho men. br / br /STONER movies appeal to STONERS, if you have the lingo, and are in with the hood, then you will like this movie, if you don't know that pot is another word for cannabis, or you are a responsible parents of 5 you probably wont get this movie, so don't watch it, if you are a stoner, you will love it!

5 out of 5 stars Pineapple Express delivers   January 23, 2009

Dale Denton (Seth Rogen: Knocked Up, Zack and Miri Make a Porno), an average joe Process Server with an obsession with Weed, decides to delay serving some papers to visit his local dealer, the good-natured but slightly wayward Saul Silvers (James Franco: Spiderman's Harry Osborn). Through bizarre coincidence, it turns out the next person Dale has to deliver court-order papers to is Ted Jones, Saul's supplier. br / br /After too much dallying, when Dale attempts to serve the papers, he unexpectedly witnesses through a window Ted Jones murdering an Asian man in cold blood. Panicking, he scarpers but accidentally manages to make his presence known, leaving a roach back at the scene of the crime which will link him to Saul who is the first person he turns to. The only way they can both survive is to go on the run with the clothes on their back and a bag of "Pineapple Express" weed, which makes for several laughs. br / br /Quite different from the usual stoner movie, this one will probably surprise you - it's action packed, guns, explosions, plenty of fights, the dialogue is wonderfully funny (perhaps a little crude but worthy) and the humor is quite unpredictable - unlike most buddy-type movies. br / br /Definately one to buy! br / br /

Personally, i'm a HUGE fan of Seth Rogen's films! He's one in a million and all his films have me in stitches of laughter. The bonus of this purchase it that it's only recently been put out on sale and on here, i got it cheaper than any other price of the 'new release' prices that can be quite expensive in the shops. Highly recommended purchase. Great speedy delivery and price...and film! Thanks again Amazon!
