Amazon.co.uk Review Itrsquo;s way past time that Isla Fisher bagged herself a leading role, after solid supporting turns in the likes of emWedding Crashers/em and emDefinitely, Maybe/em and finally, in emConfessions Of A Shopaholic/em, the ex-soap star gets her chance.pShe seizes it quite well, too. Based on the Sophie Kinsella book of the same name, emConfessions Of A Shopaholic/em is a fairly conventional romantic comedy, but itrsquo;s still a very enjoyable one. Itrsquo;s directed by PJ Hogan, who previously gave us the excellent double bill of emMurielrsquo;s Wedding/em and emMy Best Friendrsquo;s Wedding/em, and it follows Fisherrsquo;s character Rebecca as she tries to cover up her dedication to shopping, while yearning for a job on a fashion magazine./p pThe plot goes through the fairly standard shenanigans of the genre, but there are one or two things that lift emConfessions Of A Shopaholic/em above the norm. Firstly, itrsquo;s breezy and very good fun. Secondly, PJ Hogan knows this genre better than most, and fashions (no pun intended) a quite tight movie. And thirdly therersquo;s Fisher. It may not be a role that makes her an outright movie star, but therersquo;s compelling evidence here that shersquo;s got the talent to be a leading lady in her own right. This, her first stab at headlining such a film, works really quite well, and her charm and enthusiasm is the best thing in it. Worth taking a look at. ndash;-emJon Foster/em/p

Great value. December 29, 2009 Tamara C. Tozer (Eng) I bought this for my sister as i think she is abit like the lead. Great value for money and quick dispatch.
Confession: I'm a bloke, and I like Chick Flicks!!! February 13, 2010 P. Smith (Ruislip, UK) Saw the trailers for this and eventually got the DVD. My wife loved the idea of the film and has read one of the Shopaholic books (although not the first one). I have to admit I haven't read the books myself and so I am basing my opinion on the film itself.

br /As a film it was very enjoyable and I felt Isla Fisher did a brilliant job of the Becca part. She was gorgeous, innocent and yet beguiling. Her counterpart was also a good match and they gelled well on screen. Okay the books are Britain-based and this is an American version using an Australian actress in the lead, such is the poetic licence of films these days (and has always been). This didn't spoil my enjoyment of the film, it has to be taken at face value. It was 100 minutes of entertainment and it worked in that vein.

br /I remember watching Isla Fisher in Home And Away years ago and liking her then. She has blossomed into a real beauty and the only thing I find strange is her involvement with Sacha Baron-Cohen (?)

br /The comedy and sadness were well balanced as they should be in any good rom/com Chick Flick and I enjoyed it all. It is probably a one off and as such works perfectly as the girl gets the guy at the end. Some great scenes of comedy and some wonderful surrounding characters (brought brilliantly to life) round out a wonderful easy-to-watch film which I would happily recommend to anyone who likes to shop and does until they drop!
Confessions of a Shopaholic DVD March 9, 2010 Mrs. P. A. Mason (UK) If you are a fan of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic books then you must see the DVD.Isla Fisher plays the part of Becky Bloomfield to perfection with her happy carefree shopping ways.If it gleams, glistens or is just there in front of her she must have it - including a very expensive emerald green scarf that would pay for the entire wardrobe of most girls.Go for it and shopping will never be the same again.
Feel good film March 9, 2010 Sarah (London, England) I loved all the books and worried that the film wouldn't leave up to the expectations.
br /The film is different to the book... but if you watch the film and take it at face value it's really good fun film.
br /Isla Fisher is awesome and in my opinion should be given more films of this nature to star in!
