A real fright night....or two August 2, 2009 Mr. G. Bridgeman-clarke (Rayleigh UK) I really liked this horror movie. I have been somewhat disappointed with American horror movies sometimes and prefer foreign movies, lots of which have been remade into poor American re-makes. I see from another reviewer that this too is a re-make, but this is a thrilling and chilling tale.
br /
br /To be frank Keifer Sutherland isn't going to put his name to any rubbish and this horror grabs you from the start. There are some real jumpy parts and the story holds your attention to the end, which has an unexpected twist. I am usually pretty good at seeing twists but this one was very unexpected.
br /
br /If you like jumpy, unexpected horror then watch this and never look into a mirror the same way again.
Jumpy but not v.scary - good ending! June 10, 2009 Miss K (UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I loved the trailer for this but missed out on watching it at the cinema so I was looking forward to the DVD release! The idea certainly seemed pretty cool and original although 20 minutes into the film I had that familiar feeling of disappointment when you've got it all figured (because you've seen it all before!) But stick with it as there's a lot more to it than it originally seems and the whole mirror thing is actually quite original.
br /
br /There's a fire at a shopping centre but all the mirrors have been left intact and there's still something lurking within them. In terms of story idea, I would liken this to 'Darkness Falls'; the plot structure is similar to 'The Eye'; and stylistically I would compare it to something like 'The Broken' or 'The Messengers'. This is not the kind of horror film where someone gets killed every few minutes but the few deaths there are, are pretty gory. The film is gloomy in places and the music is very good in building up plenty of suspense - I suppose most of the scares come from the chilling music because you are constantly expecting something to happen and more often than not, something does happen (which makes a nice change!!)
br /
br /We know Keifer does a good job in the role of a desperate man trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together before it's too late and this film is no exception - I think he plays the role convincingly and the other roles are also acted well.
br /
br /Overall the film was entertaining enough - it's not TOO scary so I can understand why it might disappoint hardcore horror fans. The set-up is similar to many Japanese horrors and this will no doubt disappoint some but stick with it as there are some quite original ideas being explored here and there's a cool ending too!
Scary, with a great twist! March 30, 2009 Ms. Dl Beddall (UK) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful

Solidly entertaining horror movie... May 13, 2009 Gail Parnell (UK, Wiltshire) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Mirrors is a film which follows Kiefer Sutherland, playing an ex-cop suspended from his job following the shooting of a colleague. To tide him over, and help him get back on an even keel with his estranged wife and children, he takes a job up at a dilapidated building as a night security guard.
br /
br /Things certainly aren't what they seem however, as it turns out the building was ravaged by fire, people died and the building has yet more dark secrets to tell.
br /
br /Its not long before Ben (Kiefer) starts seeing things in the mirror, and members of his family - his sister, wife and children start to see things in mirrors, water reflections etc. that are their reflections but seemingly act independently of them with shocking results.
br /
br /With twists and turns and plenty of gore this is a meaty, satisfying horror with a pretty solid ending (I didn't find it silly - creepy, in fact!) which showcases Kiefer's talent as an actor outside of the 24 universe.
br /
br /Worth watching!
i really enjoyed this! May 26, 2009 R. Kavanagh (Yate, South Gloucs) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was pleasantly surprised by this film, it had a good story line and some really creepy moments, a very gory utterly fabulous bathroom scene, (loved it) and a good twist at the end. This film was a lot better than I thought it was going to be!!!
