| Customer Reviews: Brilliant and disturbing. July 7, 2009 NICHOLAS Grogan (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a unique film. It is both moving and disturbing. If you are looking for a hero type film then you might be dissapointed. The film is a work of genius. The acting and casting is top class. Seeing Charles Bronson as a Master of Ceremonies telling his story is unusual but it works. This film gives some insight into the complex sometimes tortured character of Bronson. It gives a good insight into why the authorities could not tollerate a rebel like this as he bucks the system. I first became aware of Bronson from reading his excellent fitness book, Solitary Fitness, which is also available from Amazon. Bronson has many complex and talented aspects to his character and is not a mindless thug. A truly brilliant film that will be held up as one of the all time greats in years to come, but no bed of roses and hard to watch at times; moving and disturbing at others. For the discerning film viewer well worth it.
Unique Storytelling ... July 12, 2009 Mijacmad (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was a blind buy was very impressed with director's unique way of telling the story.

br /Tom Hardy was excellent disturbing in his portrayal of Bronson, this guy deserves high praise for his work on this film (along with the bodywork too lol)

br /Blu-ray picture quality is pretty good but alot of intentional grain added to give it the 'dirty' look, doesn't distract from the excellent story though.
br /Sound is Dolby True HD 5.1 (Mislabelled as just bog standard dolby digital 5.1) on the back cover - the sound is also top notch!!

br /Don't hesitate, an aquired taste but aquire it all the same instantly!!
Don't Believe The Hype October 3, 2009 David Thompson (Newcastle, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this on Blu Ray after reading favourable reviews and loving the trailers for the film. Watched it last night and I'm left thinking 'is that it?'. Other reviews that mention the quality of the soundtrack are correct it is first class. The way the film is shot, it's all about the soundtrack and the colours used in the scenes. Unfortunately that's all it is, this doesn't accompany the main story of the film - it is the main story. I enjoyed parts but to have a whole film like this just doesn't work and I was pretty bored by the end. A real shame as Tom Hardys performance as 'Bronson' is first class, but is lost in this artsy clockwork orange wannabe.

br /Not worth the money as a purchase so I would rent this if you're still interested.
disappointing November 11, 2009 Larry (Scotland) While Tom Hardy puts in an admirable performance, as the saying goes "you can make a bad film out of a good script but you can't make a good film out of a bad script". The film is basically the same almost all of the way through, him in prison causing trouble. It's seriously lacking in the plot department. I would agree that there was some interesting use of classical music a la Clockwork Orange (I was particulary impressed with the Bruckner). The picture quality was disappointing for a blu-ray, quite grainy, whether intentional or not it made me think I should have just bought it on DVD (if at all).
absolutely utter rubbish October 3, 2009 J. L. Bruce 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
