This is a beautifully made artic thriller that genuinely moved me. Asif Kapadia makes great use of the stunning landscapes in which the film was shot and the sparse story is infused with a mythic melancholy that is genuinely touching. The shock ending only serves to strengthen the fable like quality that makes this film a must see for any cinephile.

A wonderful and strange movie, with some nice shocking scenes. The landscape of Svalbard is shown wonderfully. I attended the premier of the movie in Svalbard in Jan 2008. Got to meet Michelle Yeoh and Asif Kapadia and comment on the film.

Do not buy this film!! As it is by far the worst film I have ever ever seen. The acting is at best wooden (Sean Bean should stick to Sharpe)It even makes the beautiful scenery of the two areas that it was filmed in look awful. It does not give any sort of realistic view of life in the Arctic regions (If you want that seek out the Snow walker). Just pap DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY you have been warned.
