Amazon.co.uk Review
emFast Furious/em feels like something of a reunion for the popular franchise. After neither filled out the starring roles in the third film, emTokyo Drift/em, both Vin Diesel and Paul Walker returned to the franchise for this fourth, and between them managed to power it to become the most successful in the series to date. pWith Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster also returning, emFast Furious/em goes back to the streets where the series started, as once-rivals Diesel and Walker face, for the first time, a shared enemy. This, of course, is just the necessary groundwork before all concerned can jump into a series of impressive vehicles and drive them really, really quickly. Which, of course, they do./p pItrsquo;s brilliantly shot, too, with razor-sharp editing, fast pacing and some outstanding camerawork that leaves you feeling at the very heart of the action. Therersquo;s not a great script underpinning it all, and a few more action sequences wouldnrsquo;t hurt, but the slower moments are ably carried by the returning cast. Itrsquo;s hard to work out whether emFast Furious/em needed Diesel and Walker the most, or whether the actors themselves needed the film, but marrying them all together really does pay dividends./p pNaturally enough, therersquo;s scope left behind for a fifth film, which given the major success that emFast Furious/em deservedly enjoyed is no threat whatsoever. It might not be anywhere near the most intelligent film yoursquo;ll see in your life, but itrsquo;s a movie that knows what it wants to do, and has a great deal of fun doing it. More, please… --emJon Foster/em/p

5 out of 5 stars Now this is more like it!   April 15, 2009

Ever since the first Fast And The Furious, the other two films haven't quite stacked up, for very different reasons. Now this new film, the forth film, has brought the franchise back to life. It has shoved the rubbish that was 2Fast 2Furious out of the way, and has brought the third film (Tokyo Drift) into the trilogy properly.br /br /I went to see this film today, and man, was I entertained. All of the race sequences have been made properly, you feel like you're part of the race, you feel involved. The cars are perfect for the film. Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) has the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34, and the new Subaru Impreza WRX. These cars are perfect for Brian's character, and for the film. Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) has a Chevrolet Chevelle SS, and his legendary Dodge Charger through the film. These cars suit the characters, and the film perfectly. Other main cars in the film include a new Shelby Mustang, a Porsche 911 GT3, and an old Ford Gran Torino. Toretto's Charger and Fenix's Gran Torino have a briiliant chase through the tight tunnels near the end of the film.br /br /Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster) and Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) are back, and Han (Sung Kang) who was a key character in Tokyo Drift. The acting is a lot more professional in this film, compared to the others. You can feel and understand the characters thoughts and emotions. I would say this is Vin Diesel's finest moment, he's done himself proud with this film. Also Paul Walker has shown that he is a very very good actor. This film is a lot deeper, and the storyline and the plot is extremely well written. The Director of Tokyo Drift, Justin Lin, is back, and it really shows in the action sequences, and throughout the film. Also the music used in the film is used very well, and fits the feel and vibe of the action brilliantly.br /br /If you felt that the Fast And The Furious franchise was dead, then this will change your mind. Forget that 2Fast 2Furious exists, put this film in it's place, then you'll see the whole franchise in a different light.br /br /I have already bought The Fast And The Furious, and Tokyo Drift on Blu-Ray, and I cannot wait to stick this film in between them on my shelf. I really hope they make another one now. Having a plot that is set in between this film and Tokyo Drift would work very well, but also if they decided to have a plot for after Tokyo Drift, that would work very well too. There are endless possibilites for the franchise now.br /br /A BIG thumbs up, to anyone interested in cars, whether you've seen the other films or not. It's a great watch.

4 out of 5 stars Fast and not furious   October 28, 2009

Well here we are again, back with the original cast and back to a winning format.while F F will never win an oscars for telling an original story it is a great way to while away the time on a Saturday night (or what ever night you choose to watch it)especially if you like fast cars and lots of action in your films. br /With this film you kinda know what your going to get and you wont be disapointed, while it isn't quite as good as the first one (its rare when a series of films is)it is still a good film and a million times better than Tokyo Drift. br /If you do buy the blu ray version there are plenty of extras, if thats your thing, including customising your own car.

3 out of 5 stars Not a bad plot but a very disappointing bluray!   September 23, 2009

I think my favourite of this series is still the first one. There are numerous references to the original in this latest movie and I quite liked the plot and the fact that the original characters were back. Anyway, as far the the storyline goes it was a relaxing 'low brow' way to spend an evening. br / br /However, I am very disappointed with the quality of the Bluray itself. The picture isn't bad but the main problem is the soundtrack. Sure it's bass heavy which is to be expected but often it sounds like you are listening to it with a blanket over your head, at some points the voices are drowned out by the soundtrack, at other points it's as though the speech volume was turned down too low and you almost miss what was said. There is nothing like the clarity and surround separation you get with a top notch BD like Angels and Demons for example. br /
