Amazon.co.uk Review
Let season three of iPrimeval/i finally be known as the point when it managed to fully gel together. Unfairly dismissed in recent years as ITVrsquo;s attempt to rival the BBCrsquo;s iDoctor Who/i juggernaut, and also as a monster of the week blockbuster, the showrsquo;s third series adds plenty of meat to the proverbial bones. p At heart, iPrimeval/i remains vibrant Saturday night entertainment, and very good entertainment at that. Each episode is action-packed, and boasts steadily improving special effects, as different creatures from time continue to appear in the present day. However, for Nick Cutter and his team, therersquo;s a deeper problem, with a conspiracy to uncover alongside the various monsters to survive. p And itrsquo;s the underlying narrative that really strengthens this series of iPrimeval/i. Taken aside, the individual episodes are welcome slices of entertainment in their own right. But as Cutter and his team begin to unravel things around them, the show builds up to a compelling and interesting climax. Itrsquo;s, as a result, an increasingly confident show, and one thatrsquo;s willing and capable when it comes to throwing major twists and turns into the pot. With rumours now of a big screen version in the works, iPrimeval/i goes from strength to strength, and season four simply canrsquo;t come soon enough. --IJon Foster/I

5 out of 5 stars Don't let Primeval become extinct!   June 15, 2009
Andromeda Descendent (Tarn Vedra)
10 out of 13 found this review helpful

This third series of Primeval is longer than before - 10 episodes - which is great news, as the writing and the graphics are as good as ever. There are some surprises as the episodes go by, and the shake-up of cast members ensures that the show is kept fresh and interesting. Adding an actor to the opening credits before they are dramatically revealed isn't one of their better ideas, but that's the only real thing I can complain about. The story arc this season is fantastically good - and the finale is extremely dramatic. br / br /Sadly, this is actually the last series, as - almost unbelievably if you didn't know that they're making severe cutbacks - ITV have now axed the show. br / br /In recent television history, only two British science fiction shows have been of high enough quality to beat the North Americans at their own game, and those are Doctor Who and Primeval. It's so sad that ITV - a limp organisation with no ambition - have chosen not to even bother trying to replicate the international success of shows such as Stargate SG-1 (not an American series incidentally - it's produced by Canada, so why can't we do the same for the Americans with Primeval?). Despite favourable reviews from American TV critics, if it's not a gameshow format ITV are not interested in pushing it. Why the British audience should pay the price for their indifference is beyond me - if this show was taken up by a major US network it would undoubtedly be a hit. I can only hope Sky, Channel 5 or some other channel picks it up. Please, don't let Primeval become extinct!

... the first reviewer obviously loves Primeval the show enough to give it 5 stars. What is the point in you giving it 1 star when you haven't even seen it yet? Even though you agree it is going to be brilliant. I suggest you leave your judgement until you have watched it and remove your unhelpful and unjustified 1 star review. Primeval is a fantastic show for all the family and I am glad it is back, this series looks like it is going to be the best ever and it's even longer with 10 episodes! I can't wait for the DVD!

5 out of 5 stars Primeval series 3   October 24, 2009

This series was the best yet. Finally a Sci fi show to rival Dr Who, great effects, great plots, this series really found its feet. Some fantastic stories made it the best season so far. Ends on a great cliff-hanger which see varies members of the team trapped in different time zones. Ealier in the year ITV axed this series due to cutbacks in programme making but they have now had a change of heart and it will return in 2011 for 2 new seasons as a co production between BBC America and a German TV network. 13 new episodes in total will be made. Thank you ITV for having a change of heart on what is your best Sci-fi show ever.

5 out of 5 stars THE LAST GOOD SERIES?   March 29, 2009

i love primeval and strongly recomend buying the dvds the first series Primeval : Series 1 [DVD] [2007] was a little rocky with some really good episodes mixed with a few duff ones. the second was a vast improvement it was brilliant from the first episode all the way through to the two part final there wasen't a single bad episode. series twoPrimeval Series 2 [DVD] [2008] also gained a lot more viewers than the first. and from what i have seen so far series 3 is shaping up to be as good if not better than series 2. but it has now been anounced that douglas henshall (nick cutter in the show and personly my favorite character) is leaving and series 3 will be his last. he is the main character in the series with most of the plot twists revolving around him and although a fourth series has also been confirmed i honestly don't think that the series can survive once he is gone. so i will continue to enjoy this great series while it lasts.

5 out of 5 stars Gutted about Cutter but...   April 12, 2009

I love Cutter but to watch a whole series just for one person is silly. I think Andrew-Lee Potts is a great actor and Hannah Spearritt isn't half bad as well, not mentioning the smaller part actors. Other shows have gone on when major characters have lefted, I'm sure Primeval will be amongst them. I was gutted when Stephen was killed last series but I still watched it this year, I think we should show a bit of support to the series and characters by still watching, I'm sure there are alot more good episodes to come.
