5 out of 5 stars Good film !!   July 27, 2009

I can't understand why a lot of the reviewers here hate the ending .... it's a sci-fi movie people, not a disaster movie. Personally I loved it from beginning to end. Worth buying for the plane crash alone, which is shockingly realistic. I thought this film had a bit of everything, and 2 hours flew by like 10 minutes. Great story, great ending, great film, highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Greatest ever sci-fi movie!   June 1, 2009

Guys: what happens when all the "willing suspension of disbelief" (Samuel Taylor Coleridge) runs out?! br / br /Firstly, I disagree with the other reviewers: the ending is superb: bittersweet, from the emotionally powerful and moving scene when the Cage character's son is taken away by the benign alien entities (possibly from another dimension), to the explosive finale when old Solar finally reaps its hiterto distant vengenace on the few (Illuminati and their unquestioning uniformed and suited underlings), yet sadly and unfairly kills the many (us). You have to enter into the imagination of such a premise to be able to appreciate it. How else could it have ended? Without being ruined by Hollywooden's phoney virtues of happy-ever-after synthetics! br / br /The plot, acting, direction and special effects are first-rate; however, it is the cinematography and soundtrack that rise to sublime. Enjoy and immerse yourselves in a cinematic gem ... those aliens might have to save us too in the ever-nearing dark future....

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful film, the ending is wonderful!!   August 18, 2009

Despite many complaints by some viewers I personally think this movie is just wonderful, especially for the ending that actually gives credibility to everything that has occurred in the whole movie. Also I think this movie is more than mere entertainment, like The Day The Earth Stood Still it makes you think about the role of man on earth, the consequences of human actions and about the lack of knowledge of humans when forced to face the great unknown of cosmos. How miserable we all are when we realise we are nothing, just small stupid beings who think to know everything about life, death, science, economics, law etc. br /Also it is also a wonderful thriller that provides chills and shocking scenes. br /A must have! br /

5 out of 5 stars Provocative and Thoughtful - a brain and imagination required !   October 22, 2009

br /First off: this is NOT an action movie. br / br /Most reviewers that slate the movie, are watching it expecting an action movie with all the dots nicely joined-up, leaving the viewer to do nothing but slump in front of the plasma and stuff his face with nachos. br / br /Well, if you expect this you will be disappointed...and you WILL hate it. Maybe the fault lies with the marketing team, raising expectations but ultimately misleading the audience. br / br /This film is about hope: maybe the human spirit is worth preserving.... ? Clearly, someone thought it was. br / br /For the Sci-Fi fans, there is also an over-tone of fate or pre-determinism. Either way, spiritualist or Sci-Fi fan, there is something here for all. But, ironically (given the way it was marketed), "action movie" fans should steer clear....they will be disappointed ! br / br /Anyway, rabbit stew for supper........AGAIN !!! br / br /(watch the movie and you'll understand my last quip...)

5 out of 5 stars Great film with an important message!   July 20, 2009

I found this film as great as the trailer. The film has an important message for all of mankind and I personally loved the ending. People are too simple minded...expand your imaginations guys! br / br /5/5
