5 out of 5 stars BRILLIANT   April 30, 2009

This is absolutely brilliant. br / br /I've seen this film at the Australian screening and it's just amazing. Robert did an awesome jov as Art the struggling 25 year old at the centre of the story. Oliver Irving is a fantastic director and I'm hoping to see more of his work.

I pre-orderd this movie earlier in the month, but it was released on IFC Festival Direct on April 29th and I was able to watch it. This movie is really good. I love the random yet real feel it has to it. It is so relatable on so many levels, but it's also hilarious.. Everyone in this film did an exceptional job. SUPPORT THIS FILM AND IT'S ACTORS BY GETTING THE WORD OUT AND PURCHASING IT! You will not be disappointed.

what can i say but this is THE film to buy br /Festival viewings have been buzzing and Robert really is the rising star br /well done to the producer Justin who has worked hard to get it off the ground, never easy but he knows how to be. The pied piper has risen to the 5th floor.

5 out of 5 stars *sigh* I wish I was you...   May 27, 2009
I heart Art

I loved this film! I really didn't think I would and I only actually bought it because it looked a bit daft - if you can't laugh with it you could at least laugh at it - but I thought it was fantastic. Art is beyond adorable, and his friends are pure comedy genius, particularly Ronny. Watch the extended scenes on the bonus features too, they are like outtakes and very very funny. br /Oh, and I agree with other reviews that it can seem a bit dark in places, but to be honest, I found that in general Art's ridiculously self-aware depression was more sweet than tragic.

5 out of 5 stars SO GOOD!   May 28, 2009

I bought this dvd obviously because I'm a fan of Twilight and thus Robert Pattinson, and I absolutely loved it (and not just for Rob!) I think this film really shows what a great actor Robert is; whereas in Twilight it was very much a case that no matter his acting skills he was going to be loved, in How To Be he really takes it to the next level, and manages to pull off depressed, lonely, kind of weird and funny all at once. Incredible performance. br / br /But the film isn't just brilliant because of Rob. Co-stars Mike Pearce and Johnny White add in just enough humour to stop you feeling as sad and depressed as Rob's character Art does in the film. Johnny White especially is fantastic as the neurotic, posessive and yet ambitious Ronny (my favourite character), and his is an interesting little side story in the film. br / br /It's a really, really good film - sad in parts, funny throughout, very well cast and well acted - and the plot is just excellent. There's also some cute special features, including some extended/alternate scenes which show the actors ad-libbing (something I always love), and a short, Making Of feature. br / br /I'd recommend this film to ANYONE, not just fans of Robert Pattinson. Even if you aren't a fan of Twilight, give this a chance. You'll see Rob in a whole new light. br / br /10/10, five stars, 100% amazing.
