| Customer Reviews: Fair Mystery Movie October 20, 2009 Mitun (Edinburgh, Scotland) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
'Horsemen Of The Apocalypse' is a serial killer movie, clearly inspired by the classic movie 'Seven'. It had a limited theatrical release in the USA and a direct to DVD release in the UK. On both releases it was critically panned.

br /The movie is intriguing at the start, slowly unfolds and ends with a twist, which I did not expect, however was not the best climax. I expected more from the climax because the movie promises a lot but settles for less. Also in the movie, there is a lack of tension building, which is essential for its genre.
br /
br /The performance of the lead actor, Dennis Quaid is below par as he is not in his element and looks very tired/rough. The performance, which I found to be impressive was Zhang Ziyi's. The direction provided by Jonas Åkerlund is strictly average as a lot of the scenes are abrupt and disjointed. This can also be blamed on the editing and a flawed screenplay. The production values are average.
br /
br /The movie does not come anywhere near to the likes of 'Seven' but is still watchable and quite interesting.
br /
br /'Horsemen Of The Apocalypse' is average to above average when it comes to entertainment if you're not expecting much.

br /Recommended for hardcore mystery/thriller fans.

Tense Apart From That Ending. November 2, 2009 Ms. J. F. Gilby (bexhill, uk) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Horsemen Of The Apocalyse is a very tense worthy film, sure it's not going to scare you but it is disturbing and unsettling. It about a random set of murders that suddenly link to the four horsemen of the apocalypse, Dennis Quaid must solve and find out what's really behind this before it's too late. It got on straight away, full of tenison and you are gripped throughout the film wanting to know what would happen next. The pefomances from Quaid and Ziyi Zhang were good, attention worthy along with the co stars. But the real problem about this was the ending. It just finished without making any sense and was left with a lot of unanswered questions that appeared in my mind. It really annoys me that something like this that was pretty good to watch would end up being disappointing and stupid. Is it worth seeing? Yes and No, check it out on rental before planning to buy and don't expect a full understanding of the ending.
