4 out of 5 stars Beyonce's in the House and in control   June 30, 2009

If you look at the poster picture cover on this page it's clear that the star of this movie is intended to be Beyonce. She appears front and center in the picture, and the actor playing her husband has most of the top half of his head chopped off, and we only see profile. br / br /In the movie, the camera shows her in close up more than the other characters. Her husband played excellently by Idris Elba has a small head, and when the camera pans across her to see him his head looks even smaller. In addition we seem to see more zoomed in shots of Beyonce. br / br /Sexy hot new temp Lisa (Ali Larter) gets it bad for happily married exec Derek. Wife Sharon (Beyonce) goes on hyper alert. "Is she pretty?" she asks. "Pretty plain," he says. Oh oh. br / br /As you probably can imagine the innocent relationship takes a turn, as Lisa pursues Derek. There is nothing she won't do to get what she wants, and the situation spirals out of control in unexpected ways. Will Derek give in to temptation or tell his wife what's going on? br / br /Obsessed delivers solid entertainment, and the fight scene between between Beyonce and Ali Larter is one of the best girl fights you'll see. "You think you're crazy? You ain't seen crazy, bitch!" br / br /Beyonce acting in Dreamgirls and the Austin Powers movie was singer playing singer. Her acting seemed unnatural. Her facial expressions vacant, her emotions not quite right. In an interview somewhere she said she was taking acting lessons. In Obsessed she shows remarkable improvement, conveying the emotions she portrays very well. A convincing performance with room still to grow. br / br /Although Beyonce is the star, Ali Larter is a dreamgirl, and it requires some supsension of disbelief to imagine anyone resisting her. The three actors play excellently, although the camera favors Beyonce, it's not at the expense of the story. No surprise to learn that Beyonce and her Dad are both executive producers on Obsessed. br / br /I think you will love this movie. br / br /I hope you find this review helpful. br /

3 out of 5 stars Gorgeous people remake Fatal Attraction!   August 29, 2009

Yeah, this is pretty much Fatal Attraction remade with gorgeous people, plus some black actors!! br / br /Beyonce was actually quite good - you can see she has been working on her acting skills since DreamGirls, and she portrayed her character very well. I enjoyed how she showed her inner Tigress - she didn't wimp out, she kicked butt!! br / br /Ali Larter did well with what was kindof a scanty role for her - her character was definitely gone in the head, and it would have been easy for it to be one-dimensional but she managed to give it a bit of meat. She made you think that she really believed the things she was saying. And she was pretty darn evil - drugging a man to get him into bed? Sexy lingerie in his car?! I mean, if he was YOUR man I reckon the car thing would have been a hit but for a stranger?! Heck no! br / br /Now to Idris Elba. Drool, sigh, drool. The man is fine fine fine, and he acts too. A couple of times I found myself saying to the screen "tell your darn wife you fool" but generally you could actually understand how it got so difficult- for him, it really was nothing until she went too far and by then it was going to cause the mother of all ruckus with his wife however he explained it! br / br /The fight scene was excellent - absolute CLASS - and I really did enjoy this movie. No bad thing for it to be compared to Fatal Attraction. Good movie!

2 out of 5 stars fatal attraction rip off!   July 1, 2009

If u have seen the far superior fatal attraction then u have basicaly seen this inferior remake. The set up is simple. sucessful married man meets new office temp {played by very sexy ali larter}. A bit of playful flirting begins and before u know it Larter is obsessed with our films hero derek played by idris brown. br / br /Her crazy anticts come across as funny rather than anyway thilling compared to glen close in fatal attraction who did appear a genuinely crazy bitch in that film. br / br /Beyonce Knowles stars as the wife who will stop at nothing to protect her family. The biggest mystery in this film is why on earth 2 hot women like larter and knowles would want to vie over a man as dull and boring as derek is! br / br /This film is only worth one star but the fantastic catfight between the 2 lead women at the films climax is so good this has pushed it up to 2 stars. Not since daryl hannah and uma thurman battled it out in kill bill has a catfight been so entertaining! br / br /My advice rent it out and then skip straight to the climax.

Idris elba is sex and call me biased but he can do no wrong in my eyes. no on a serious note he was very good as the husband and although the emotion in his characeter wasn't made obvious and althoug he was one of the main characters it felt like beyonce was the more emotional one while he was diplomatic. br / br /Ali Carter was brilliantly funny. i don't know if we were supposed to be genuinely scared but i jus found it hilarious the things she cooked up in her mind and how everyone could see it coming but derek. br / br /Beyonce was much the drama queen as ever. as far i'm concerned she is weak as an actress except in dream girls where she was pretty good. she had to overdramatize everything and i felt like any problem could be solved with a flick of her hair and a dirty look and maybe the odd use of 'bitch' i didn't at all buy her portrayal of the heroin and the climactic scene was dreadful! but funny! she tried to do the whole suburban high class housewife turns ghetto all cos 'u touched my child bitch oh no u didnt!' i didn't believe it for a second because she wasn't very good and some of her lines where absolutely cringeworthy! br / br /the story was fine, been done before. fatal attraction-esque. also the fact that it was very cut and dry crazy lady threatens family and gets killed. O.K. despite the fact that they try to dramatize it alot, very easygoing and if you watch it on a drak night with popcorn you'll be luck if you get goosebump, in which case you should probably pay your heating bill!
