(Italy) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful This movie is a great portrait for wonderful, misterious, city: Genova.The culturally rich Italian city is the backdrop for one of Colin Firth's finest roles as the desolate dad who struggles to console his younger daughter who was inadvertently responsible for his wife's demise, and her older sister, whose grief manifests itself in angry rebellion. br / br /Michael Winterbottom's choice of Genoa is inspirational - the churches, beautiful buildings and glorious coast meshing perfectly with a tender script. br / br /Firth is utterly believable in his role as a beleaguered single parent Joe, who is both grieving but attempting to start his life afresh. br /I definitely suggest to see the movie and to visit Genova. Colin Firth at his best August 25, 2009 Mrs. Marguerite Turpin The role of greiving father suits Colin Firth perfectly. Top class acting from England's best. Another excellent Firth Film! September 5, 2009 A Trini The film was refreshingly different from beginning to end. The scenery was very "authentic" with little "doctoring"done to it. The role portrayals were very accurate allowing you to "feel"the emotions as the story developed. Colin Firth was fantastic! ok movie but it didn't go anywhere October 12, 2009 S. Pizzirani (UK) i bought this movie since i used to live in genova and i like supernatural films. this movie was totally average but a bit frustrating since every time you think something might happen...it doesn't. i've never watched a movie before where when it ended i was left with just as much closure as when it started. nice cinematography and great acting though!
