Amazon.co.uk Review Part one of Guns N' Roses' ambitious second album is arguably the better of the two. It certainly rocks harder, though this seems to be more coincidence than anything else; which songs went on which CD looks to have been a random selection. iUse Your Illusion I/i stays closer to the band's bluesy hard-rock roots, with guitarist Izzy Stradlin contributing some of the best songs, including "Dust N' Bones" and "You Ain't the First". "November Rain" (clocking in at over nine minutes) became an instant classic, and there are a fair number of straight-ahead rockers, such as "Perfect Crime", "Don't Damn Me", and "Garden of Eden". Taking the best from this album and iUse Your Illusion II/i would have made a killer single CD, but there's enough good stuff here to make it worthwhile.i --Genevieve Williams/i

THE BEST February 3, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought two of the DVD#x27;s from my local shop and I am so impressed with use your illusion volume 1 that I cant stop listening to it, Axl#x27;s voice is pretty much the best its gonna be for a live stage and his energy is second to non, and the guitar work by Slash, Gilby and Duff is amazing, the introduction to Mr brownstone is the best version I have ever seen, the wonderful "wild horses" which really shows just how talented and gifted slash is, the atmostphere is amazing and just proves how popular Guns N Roses are even in Tokyo, for many reasons this is the best DVD of any music event I have seen and one of the reasons is that Axl talks with the audience and sings the songs with such passion, this is definatly worth buying as you will never regret it
Making the stadiums their own October 30, 2005 Mr. D. A. Cure (Droitwich) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
There were rumours flying around at the time that there would be a Use Your Illusion III, which would have a green cover and include the best of the two volumes. A great deal of opinion has sided with this since, claiming that an amalgamation of the best tracks from the 2 albums would have produced possibly the greatest album ever. I disagree. Which tracks would they have dropped? Some of the best work they produced would perhaps have been lost, and given the fact that the band has since faded away into Axl - induced obscurity, it was essential for them to release as much as they could in their heyday.brThe first of these two volumes is best known for the November Rain opus, along with the singles, Don#8217;t Cry, the cover Live and Let Die, and The Garden of Eden. However, the album kicks off in its own right with the excellent Right Next Door to Hell (about Axl#8217;s own neighbour from hell), and moves straight onto the Izzy inspired Dust N Bones. Hidden gems include Bad obsession, The Garden (with great slide work, and Mr Alice Cooper), and the Coma epic. It is Double Talkin Jive, though, where Slash#8217;s genius really shines through - a blistering guitar workout, fading into a classical guitar piece, before November Rain. brA completely different sound to their legendary debut album, but in the same way as the Stones moved from Aftermath to Their Satanic Majesties Request, this should be regarded in its own light, and really does offer something for everyone. A must have.
IT RULES!!!!! February 22, 2006 Mrs. E. Mccluskie 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This DVD rules! If you are a proper GN#x27;R fan, you will love this. If you have never been to a GN#x27;R concert, this is the next best thing. If you buy this, it is money well spent. It shows how good Slash is at the guitar as he plays brillant solo#x27;s and how good Axl is at the peak of his carrer!!!!!!

If you never got to see GNR perform live in the 80's an early 90's heres the next best thing. The atmosphere is electric. Superb performances this is GNR at their best. This has been on dvd for a while but only as a poor qualitity Brazilian Import. This version is fantastic make sure you get the 2nd DVD to, you wont be disapointed and at £9.99 a disk its a real bargain.
The Best Music DVD Ever!!!!!! March 22, 2004 Dragon (South East England) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This has got to be by far the best music DVD I have ever seen!! Guns N Roses were an amazing band (pre 1994) and this DVD proves it! Both Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 are brilliant and you can't really buy one without the other.pBoth Dvds include massive hits like Mr Brownstone, Paradise City, Sweet child o mine and my personal favourite, So Fine. Axl sounds better than ever whilst changing into a never ending supply of t shirts and hotpants!!! Matt does an amazing drum solo on Illusion 2 and Duff blasts out a brilliant version of The Misfits' "Attitude" on Illusion 1. And of course you have Slash with his famous guitar solos! Each member of the band demonstrates pure and utter talent. pEven if you have only just started listening to Guns N Roses (WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!!!) this is a great DVD to get you started. A must for any hard core GNRs fan. pBuy this now!!!!!
