What made you say that!? October 20, 2003 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Shania Twains debut album. Shania says this is a nashville record! not a Shania Twain record! Shania only wrote one song on this album (God Ain't Gonna Getcha For That!)brAs Usual she sounds great and makes you love these songs (even if you think they're not your style!) Has some great tunes! What Made You Say That Is a catchy upbeat song that everyone who hears likes! Includes a track called "Dance With the one that brought you" the Video was directed by Sean Penn Maddonas ex husband! This Album inclues many great songs even though they are not Shania's own songs she sings them great.
It's early but it's great! ^_^ June 11, 2002 Smash/Turnip Girl (Essex, England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This CD may only have 10 tracks but I love all of them! The best songs are 'What Made You Say That', 'Got a Hold On Me', 'Forget Me' and 'Crime of the Century'. She sings brilliantly (like always!) If you love 'The Woman in Me' and 'Come On Over', you should love this too. It's a lot more country-ish than her newer stuff but I still like it. She only wrote one song on this album though, 'God Ain't Gonna Get You For That', but it's still great! br'Was it the moonlight, was it the starlight in your eyes? Have you been listening to your heart?'(What Made You Say That) Nope, I've no time to listen to my heart, I'd much rather listen to this! ^_^
The Shania album for country fans August 24, 2003 Peter Durward Harris (Leicester England) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This album, produced by Harold Shedd and Norro Wilson, two notable country produces, has a contemporary feel but still owes a lot to traditional country with plenty of steel guitar, so it is not like any other Shania album so far released.

br /There are plenty of upbeat songs, giving this album a real good-time feel. Among them are What made you say that, Dance with the one that brought you, God ain't gonna getcha for that and Crime of the century. Shania also demonstrates that she can sing ballads well, particularly on When he leaves you, possibly my favorite track here, and You lay a whole lot of love on me.

br /It is clear from this album and from some tracks on her other albums that Shania loves country music but it is unlikely that Shania will ever record another album like this one. As such, country fans everywhere should treasure it (only the most diehard traditionalists could complain that it's not country enough), but some of Shania's normal fans may not like it all and ought to hear some of it before buying. This is my favorite Shania album although I do enjoy some of her later music in its own way.
It's great! February 8, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have 4 albums by Shania - The Woman In Me, For The Love of Him, Come on Over and this one. I love them all. I love the way she can do pop, country and rock and sound good in all of them. i love country and i love pop and so i love her. This is an excellent album full of really fun songs and good lyrics. she is one of the few artists I, my dad and my brother's girlfriend all like! that is a wide age range - 14, about 21, and 52. It just shows how good she is, that every age can appreciate her music. she has a wonderful voice and i recommend buying this album. especially the song 'god ain't gonna get you for that'.
Great buy for Shania fans! May 13, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this album after buying 'Woman in me', it's true that it's not as memorable as her later albums, but she still sings her heart out; and it hardly notices that songs aren't her own material. This is the only one of Shania's albums that was accepted as 'Country' music in Nashville, as executives there felt that 'Woman in Me' was too rock, and 'Come on Over' was too pop!
