5 out of 5 stars blinding album   January 18, 2002

this cd is really really good. i hadnt' heard it for over two years so I decided to buy it cuz I left it back in Australia. It made me realise how much I missed this album. some really thought provoking lyrics, you can tell Mick was reassing him life, must've been going through a bit of a mid-life crisis. the songs are beautifully written and heartfelt. each song goes through a different stage in Micks life, dont think it has all been all fun and games. he's obviously had his heart broken! honestly though, if you get the chance, listen to it.

This is a quality album of great songs! My favourites include Throwaway, the hypnotic singalong rocker Let's Work and Say You Will, a passionate rousing number with real soul and emotion. There's a touch of country in Party Doll, while Peace For The Wicked has an RB feel, and Shoot Off Your Mouth is good old rock and roll again. The melodic quality of the songs is impressive and he sings with heartfelt emotion. This is as good as any of the 90s Stones albums.

This album is pretty good especially Throwaway and Primitive cool pThrowaway- a sharp rock song is is a really good song Let's work-this song is alright but the druming is a bit naf (sounds like a song that people would work to) Radio control- a sort of heavy metal song but not my favourite. Say you will- a mellower song but still a good one Primitive cool- a sort of song about his life in the 1950's and 1960 but a good song Kowtow-this song (4:55) start off slow but after 50 seconds (4:05) it gets better and is a good song Shoot off your mouth- this is quite a good song the guitar reminds me of Status Quo Peace for the wicked- this a good song it talks about leaving the wicked alone THE other two aren't worth mentioning Party doll and War baby are the two worst songs on the albumpthanks~WOJB

4 out of 5 stars Post-modern self-referential solo album kicks butt   October 5, 2000

Like the later album Wandering Spirit, this is halfway to being a great album. Throwaway, Say You Will, Primitive Cool and Kowtow are all outstanding tracks: slinky, seductive, ironic and graceful rock songs that are up there with some of the best Stones stuff. Unfortunately some of the instrumentation on this has dated, especially the drums on Let's Work, which is a rather patronising workers' anthem written with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, the static on Radio Control and the guitars elsewhere. Lyrically, Jagger is often on vintage form: I use cheap champagne, brief affairs... backstage love. Recommended if you're sick of Honky Tonk Women but love Wild Horses.

4 out of 5 stars Could have been   February 5, 2009

Some albums just dond't make it , not because of the songs but the way they are produced. br /It lacks of "something". br /Mick Jagger should redo some of them. br /With the stones maybe ? br /
