Amazon.co.uk Review On this, their debut recording for a major label, Canada's quirkiest musical troupe introduced the world to their unique blend of scathing humour, skilful musicianship, and flat-out fun. Packed with songs that have become anthems to their adoring fans, iGordon/i is practically a collection of Barenaked Ladies' greatest hits. This CD features "Brian Wilson", an homage to the biggest Beach Boy and an exploration of the relationship between art and neurosis; "Be My Yoko Ono", a musician's entreaty to his winsome muse; "Box Set", a relentless indictment of one-hit wonders and washed-up rockers; and the staple sing-along "If I Had $1,000,000", which you can walk around humming all day without getting bored. Literally every song on this disc features the intelligent lyrics, tight arrangements, and astonishing vocalisations that BNL have made their stock-in-trade. It's a winner all the way around. i--L.A. Smith/i

This is the best album ever. Everyone should own it!!! June 6, 2001 cherylpie77@hotmail.com (London, England) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This album by the strange canadian geeksters is just a gem. A strangely cut little gem, but still a gem. It has everything; sing-a-long melodies, heartfelt ballads, witty little ditties. A song about Yoko Ono, love songs, songs about childhood, songs about love found and love lost. What would you get if you had $1000000? Okay, it's not to everyone's taste musically, but the lyrics will reach everyone who has a soul. Five gold stars and a letter of recomendation for Gordon. Buy it now.
And WHY haven't you got this album? February 14, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Gordon is an amazing album. Something in it for everyone. From the very beginning of Hello City you know this is gonna be a little strange - but fantastic all the same. Enid, Grade 9 and King Of Bedside Manner are pure comedy, as is If I Had A Million Dollars. However, for me the standout track (and not by much as there's hardly a fault to any) has to be The Flag. Let the music move you in this song. It's the reason I bought the album and thank god I did because it's never far away from my CD player. Put Your Arms Around Me has to be the best realistic and sweet love song I've ever heard. Brian Wilson and Blame It On Me both sweep you along in the melody. The parodies of fame - Boxset and New New on The Block are addictive. Honestly isn't a bad song on it. Anyway, can you guess that you really really really should but this?
A must buy for any music lover!! July 29, 2007 River (Wet Wales) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
