A Wonderful Live Album October 10, 2004 D. Penn (UK) 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
This consists of a combination of tracks, some from Brian's first album ('Back to the Light'), some Queen tracks, and a wonderful cover version of Rainbow's 'Since You've Been Gone'. pMost of the other obvious 'comments' to make about the album have already been made, (how Bri's actually perfectly capable as a frontman, but a weak voice occasionally, etc...), but suffice to say that if you buy this you won't be disappointed. Wonderful music, great band (the late Cozy Powell gives some superb drumming) and a, er, (running out of superlatives here...) brilliant atmosphere. pBest track - probably the 10 minute concert rendition of 'Resurrection', with a snatch of Bohemian Rhapsody, and a great percussion solo in the middle.pAll in all, a great concert.pPlease vote for this review if you found it helpful. Thanks.
He Was Born to Rock You! March 27, 2002 M. D. Rathbone (Runcorn, Cheshire - UK) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
A must for Queen fans with a more than generous helping of great live Queen classics performed by the man who was at the heart of their engine room live, alongside the best of his Back to the Light album tracks.pWorth the money just to hear the greatest Queen song that never was - Resurrection - and the battle between guitar and drums as Brian wanders off into a lengthy guitar solo. He's not too comfortable at the microphone but he's sure at home with a guitar in his hands!pHis own Queen trademarks are here, within songs such as Tie Your Mother Down and Now I'm Here plus versions of later Queen hits Too Much Love... and Headlong and he does Freddie proud with his solo version of Love of My Life.
Brilliant, despite the absence of the rest of queen. April 9, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
After queen broke up, I was unsure whether or not the solo career of Brian May would be a success. Some would say it hasn't been, however just because he is not in the lime light like he used to be, his music is still top notch. In this concert Brian strikes a good balance between all our fauvorite Queen songs and his own new materiel. His new songs do have echos of queen, however he has moved on and the main attraction of his music (in my opinion), is the guitaring. All in all I would say this CD is a must for all queen fans and anyone who appriciates spectacular guitar leads.
Freddie/Cozy tribute January 29, 2008 mike (Manchester England) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you like Queen this is a must. There are Queen songs and excellent tributes to Freddie and Cozy as well as original tracks which would and could have graced any Queen album.
Absolutely cracking gig with superb musicianship songs! November 25, 2006 Adamski (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well, what can I say. A little-known gem of an album featuring one of the best rock/pop guitarists in Brian May. The entire setlist is superb, the backing band are fantastic and Brian is on great form. Brilliant sound too, excellent production. The Brian May solo songs are truly superb and of course there are some Queen classics and also a Rainbow song (due to Cozy Powell being on drums)! The instrumental 'Last Horizon' is gorgeous with some very fast fingerwork from Mr May. Totally recommended!
