Amazon.co.uk Review iExperience Hendrix/i brings together the major singles with a stack of majestic album tracks and the career-defining live Woodstock version of "The Star Spangled Banner" on a fat 20-tracker. While best used as a sampler to direct new listeners to the immortal iAre You Experienced/i, iElectric Ladyland/i, and so on, the CD (which supplants the short-lived iUltimate Experience/i collection) does hang together as a listen. Its blend of Hendrix the rocker and Hendrix the underrated soul man is suggestive, painting a picture of a multifaceted genius and transcending its plainly mercenary origins. In the end, its effect--like that of all Hendrix's best records--is to remind us of a Jimi very, very much alive. i--Rickey Wright/i

Best....Hendrix Compilation....Ever.......Period. April 11, 2005 26 out of 28 found this review helpful
I actually own all the hendrix studio recordings, but sometimes (guilty admission) have to skip the odd track or two (little miss strange from Ladyland being a case in point)to get to the real cream, and often found myself wishing I had the ultimate collection of hendrix's songs, back to back, on one CD.pWell not any more, baby! As soon as I saw the track list for this bad boy I was amazed. It was just like the compilers of this record had asked me which tracks I wanted them to include! Wish granted! Problem solved! Nothing new obviously (this guy's back catalogue has been raped and pillaged since the 70's)but this package has all the 24carat classics. If you're new to Hendrix, on a tight budget etc, etc, get this beastie while it's still in stock!!
Fantastic for Newcomers March 17, 2006 S. G. Toyne (England) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
Hendrix elevated electric guitars to a higher level than ever. Every great guitarist has been measured by Jimi#x27;s standards and most of the new musicians today have been inspired by him. pThis is a great collection which shows Jimi doing what he does best, wailing on the guitar. For someone who hasn#x27;t heard much of Jimi#x27;s work, this album is a brilliant place to start. Alot of his albums are very abstract with endless guitar solos that can be hard to get in to for a beginner, but this collection has all the right tunes and melodies to get that beginner strapped in and ready for some classic guitar rock. Having said that, there are a few songs which feature amazing solos and the casual listener will find these highly thrilling and be comfortable with them. pIf you own all of Jimi#x27;s albums, this collection is a nice way of having alot of favourites bundled together on one cd. However, these days with mp3 players and computer libraries, it is easy to create playlists of favourite songs or albums and string them together. So, die hard fans of Hendrix would not find it necessary to purchase this as the collection holds nothing new. pIf you are a Jimi virgin then this album breaks you in to his best work. Once you have devoured these pieces then you are ready to go out and buy the albums which feature longer, bigger, louder and better solos and visions by one of the greatest musicians of the twentieth century.

The ultimate Hendrix collection, this, and stacked to the brim with top quality sound. brAt the end of the 60s, Jimi Hendrix appeared like a bolt from the blue; the secret mix consisted of a slightly nasal-throaty voice and stunning guitar "management". Needless to say, Hendrix' screen appeal was derived more than most from his memeorable appearance on the Woodstock stage. There, he did not just manifest himself as the guitar acrobat (which indeed he was), but as a brave social commentator; his rendering of the Star-Spangled Banner wrecks the then boastful American stance about its involvement in Vietnam. Listen how Jimi's guitar has bomber planes fly past and bomb one's eardrums to shreds.brAnd there is more: like the early hits Purple Haze and The Wind Cries mary, which, at the time of their earliest appearance on the air defied any pigeon-holing attempts on behalf of rock theorists. brThe only way in which one can make the most of one's listening, is to have it in perfect stereo quality. I once heard Jimi's genial rendering of Dylan's All along the watchtower and Voodoo Child (Slight Return) out loud and imagined that this is the way these must have sounded like 'live'. brIf any artist in the history of rock deserves such bywords as 'trend-setting to the present day' and 'aboslutely indispensable', here is one serious contender.brOne may well wonder what else this top-notch artist held in store, had his death not been as untimely as it came. Are gods cruel or plain jealous?
The Greatest In Guitar Rock - It's Hendrix! July 24, 2004 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this album being almost totally un-experienced of Hendrix's music. I have to say, this includes some of the best guitar riffs I have ever heard. It's simply a fantastic greatest hits album from the greatest guitarist of all time.brHere are my five favourite tracks in order...pAll Along The Watchtower - great song with brilliant riffs.pPurple Haze - fantastic song taken from Jimi's first album "Are You Experienced".pHey Joe - you just have to love this classic!pCrosstown Traffic - the opening riff is just brilliant.pFire - I first heard this as a cover by the Chili Peppers... good cover, but this is the real McCoy!pAll I can say is, get and and buy this album. It's a classic!
