Buy Sutherland or Callas version ..... September 10, 2009

This recording has a harsh sound to it - it's not nearly as good as the Sutherland classic version with Pavarotti or the Callas studio version (mono). Possibly the two later versions of this opera with Gruberova are better. To me, her voice sounds shallow and there is nothing distinctive about her timbre. I'm a Gruberova fan and like her late recordings. Maybe her voice just isn't mature enough on this recording for my taste?
