Amazon.co.uk Review
One of the breakout stars of 1998 hip-hop, DMX wasted little time in following up his US No. 1 album iIt's Dark and Hell Is Hot/i with iFlesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood/i. If the quick turnaround seems surprising, maybe it's because DMX's second LP doesn't fall far from the original tree. Key to his formula, DMX has mastered the art of thug-life anthems, following in the dubious footsteps of 2Pac and Noreaga. While his gruff voice and simple delivery help make his songs infectious, they're rarely creative, especially with anaemic beats, redundant subject matter, and his trademark barks. Basically, iFlesh of My Flesh/i is a perfect buy for those who couldn't wait a whole year for another DMX LP, but it won't convert many new listeners. i--Oliver Wang /i

5 out of 5 stars NEVER HAVE I HEARD RAP THIS GOOD!   January 2, 2001

I have been round the world and listened to the hardest rap and my men on the corner. However, i have never come across rap at this level. DMX is the master and all you people who believed Pac was the best then here is your suppliment. However we all know no one can bet the Pac i only said he was a suppliment till the Pac is reserected. Peace out

i have listened to it and he deserves respect. listning to 2pac i would say DMX is the next best from 2PAC. i would also recomend snoop dogg to hip-hop fans. DMX's songs are really good and the ones where he talks is good.

If you're into all that rough house gangsta rap then this should be a sure winner, and even if you're not then it still has some tracks that should make you nod your head, and smile even.pSome of the tracks are very reflective, I like this, it's a excellent buy.....

4 out of 5 stars A slightly disappointing, but still real good   June 26, 2001

Firstly I would say that this is not as good as his first album by a long way, mainly as it feels slightly rushed. Although it contains a multitude of superb songs such as 'Bring Your Whole Crew', 'Aint no way' and 'Dogs for life', it does contain some bad ones also. However, it is not the rapping or lyrics that are at fault, because as ever DMX is on top form, but the music on some of the tracks is just so repetitive that you get bored real quick: in particular I refer to 'The Omen', the sequel to the superb 'Damien', because it is so downbeat and boring that it does the original no justice and features a very small appearance by Marilyn Manson. However, aside from these minor flaws this is still classic DMX and contains more than enough dope beats to make it a worthwhile purchase.
