Will Smith is the future of hip-hop--in the sense that iWillennium/i, his follow-up to 1997's iBig Willie Style/i, is sure to dominate pop-rap airwaves and sales. Proud of his kid appeal but also self-mocking (he carries the title concept with the single "Will2K," a party jam built on a sample of the Clash's "Rock the Casbah"), Smith carries forward the early-rap values of good-natured boasting and fun-fun-fun. His desire to remain part of the community is reflected in his savvy choice of guests, who number everyone from K-Ci (some convincing vocal licks on "Will2K") to rappers new-school (Lil' Kim, Eve) and old (Slick Rick, Biz Markie); past and future partner DJ Jazzy Jeff even gets his own four minutes of funk on the scratch-happy "Pump Me Up". Smith also attempts cinematic storytelling on "Afro Angel" and "The Rain", which are admirably solemn, if far from the best things here. Smith may not be the hippest hip-hopper around, but as Chuck D once said of another, very different figure, "Don't tell me that you understand until you hear the man." i--Rickey Wright/i

A great album, going back to the wonderful JJ+FP days!brDefinately recommended to any TRUE hip-hop fans, some real feel good tunes with great beats and there's a little treat for Biz Markie fans!
THE NEW WILLENIUM IS HERE December 13, 1999
A superb album with the first five songs being the best ive ever heard in my life. Much better than big willie style because of the people he sings with.

What do you get when you put the greatest rap/rb duo together?...Pure quality! There are no one better than DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince. Will Smith returns with an updated old school sound. Smith is a lyrical poet whose rappng skills have only gotten better. And with Jazzy Jeff by his side at the turn tables, together with the loads of collaborators whom he can call upon, Smith is man who trully deserves all those awards.

Willennium has to be the wiedest and best album that Will has ever done. On this he teams back with an old mate, Jazzy Jeff (On the track Pump it up) and his son (on the track Wild Wild West). It is total different to his last album Big Willie Style and I'd strongly advise u to click on add to your basket just to buy this brillent single. There was a lot of speculation how Will Smith would follow up his amazing 'Big Willie Style'. Well, having now heard 'Willennium' I don't think that anyone can deny the man is a genius. Silencing his critics he has yet again shown his masterful skill of the genre. Brilliant lyrics (Freakin' it), great tunes (Will 2K), amazing production (Wild, Wild West) all add together to create a musical masterpiece.
