| Customer Reviews: Almost forgotten punk classic July 26, 2005 DAVID DIXON (BRUSSELS Belgium) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I believe this release is up there with the big UK punk releases and if you like Generation X or The Clash, this won't disappoint.(pity Chelsea didn't continue at this level). High energy original songs, fantastic tunes and Gene October's voice is excellent - great cover of Many Rivers To Cross. Still got my Step Forward LP version but no longer have my haversack painted with their logo (caused all sorts of confusion as I lived in Hartlepool where no-one supported Chelsea FC) pPlease note that other reviewer is mistaken - this is a well recorded studio album and doesn't contain 'Right To Work'.
Chelsea underated classic May 8, 2008 Mr. I. Jackson (North East of England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is truly a shame that Chelsea never got to release this album a year or so earlier as it would have been regarded as a classic, as it happens it came out in 1979 just as punk was dying off and Mod/Ska was taking over. Great songs, great guitar sound, only let down by poor production on drums and bass. Trouble is the Day is an absolute anthem and up there with the Clash for air punching classics, plus the awesome Free the Fighters, and 12 Men are just superb Punky tracks, certainly recommended to anyone who is a fan of this genre of music.
Great forgotten punk band but... November 19, 2004 0 out of 5 found this review helpful
Initially this looks like the perfect selection of Chelsea's underrated early punk tracks. However, what is not made clear is that the recordings vary from average to appalling. For example, the version of "Right to work" seems to be a recording of a live performance made from a few miles away. A great shame.
