 haunting lyrics with a fantastic salsa beat November 8, 2001

This was the first album by Marc Anthony that I ever heard, having been recommended it by a friend. pFor those couples out there who like to have "our song" then this is the album for you. It has it all.....falling in love, falling out of love, being in love, wanting love, turning your back on love.....the lyrics and the music are very, very special.pI play this album as often as I can and never tire of the songs. My favourite: You sang to me.pThis is not just an album for salsa lovers, it is an album for lovers the world over.

All of the songs are great especially 'I need to know','You sang to me' and the true salsa ballads, 'My baby you'.The king of Salsa for sure.

I had originally purchased this disc on the strength of I Need To Know, an uptempo single that was quite a hit for Marc here in the States.That being the case I quickly found that the ballads on this disc are his real strong suit. Songs such as Am I The Only One and My Baby You resonate well with the MOR crowd and the disc continues to sell well despite it having been out for two years now. Overall, although there is some filler material on here and some of the numbers have been severly overproduced the album is still extrememly melodic and well-thought out. I found myself,after only one listen,humming along as if I knew all the songs by heart....already! I wonder if that's good...or bad! Nevertheless, it's a nice disc and Marc Anthony has a strong enough voice so while it holds no surprises it certainly is very enjoyable as well.

I always thought that Marc Anthony was just an actor and Jennifer Lopez' husband. Then I heard a track on a compilation album - "You Sang to Me" and was intrigued to find the identity of the singer. I watched a few clips of his music dvds on the internet and from that moment on became an ardent fan.

br /There is not a track on this cd that I don't like but my favourites are "You Sang to Me", I Need You, his duet with Tina Arena "I want to spend my lifetime Loving you" (bonus track) and his duet with his wife Jennifer Lopez "No Me Ames" (also a bonus track).

br /The ballads are great and so are the Salsa numbers - I recommend this album to anyone!

br /Discover Marc Anthony the singer if, like me, you thought of him as only Mr Lopez and an actor!
