A must-have for Paula fans and collecters of 90's music... 20th Aug Reviewer: eddie jarvis for aberdeen At times I feel Paula Abdul is an under-appreciated artist and that often her contribution to the music industry goes un-noticed. Yet it is undeniable that Paula Abdul has both innovated and re-invented the meaning of music and dance, and it is she who paves the way for artists who claim her position nowadays- artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Mya, and even Brittney Spears. Paula though not the most vocally-talented songstress of her time, proved that dance, and the visual aid of the music video can override any lack of singing talent and the string of Abdul classics on this album are a reassertion of this fact. I find that this album is a perfect way to put an end to the era in which Paula Abdul made dance and music inseparable, whilist reminding us that at times her voice really did captivate us with its sometimes husky, sometimes sickly-sweet quality by, not surprisingly, adding the smash-hit 'Rush Rush'. Often thought to be one of the most romantic tracks of the nineties, no one can deny that the track is tailor-made for Paula, and for her alone. The album places more emphasis on the tracks that marked Paula's dancing talent, though I feel that leaving out the largely-personal, yet ever-so-remembered 'Will You Marry Me?' would be a disappointment for hard-core Paula fans. All-in-all this album is a true testament to the unforgettable contribution of Paula Abdul, and a very appropriate way to say goodbye to all her fans and those she inspired....

3 out of 5 stars Straight Up Hits   January 18, 2001

Although she has been out of the spotlight for nearly a decade, there was a time when Paula Abdul was giving artists like Janet Jackson and Madonna a run for their money on the US charts. This collection sums up the best of Ms. Abdul's work as a solo artist. To date she has only recorded 3 solo records, but this album alone will fill you up with enough Paula to last you a life time. Containing 6 US number 1 singles, GREATEST HITS is a seamless pop album from start to finish. The choppy, frenetic dance beats and chirpy, irrelevant vocals remind us that Paula Abdul's true talent was as a video artist...and that without the small screen these songs probably would have gone unnoticed. The only mistake: not including the original, album version of the superb MY LOVE IS FOR REAL. Although it was her last single to go Top 30 in America, the song was a stylistic leap forward for Paula Abdul, and promised exciting things to come. Unfortunately, we are still waiting.
