Amazon.co.uk Review Lil' Kimberley Jones is back, looking "hotter than a pop tart right out of the toaster". Taking on the mantle of her lover/mentor Biggie Smalls, Queen Bitch waxes lyrical on her two obsessions, sex and crime, and delights in her role as a predatory female. "Imagine if I was a dude, hitting cats from the back," she muses on the rough-riding role-reversal of "Suck My Dick"; then she switches positions, fantasising her ideal lover on "How Many Licks" (accompanied by the falsetto wail of booty impresario Sisqo) and spreading her lyrical legs for her fans on lockdown. The apocalyptic "Revolution" features a glorious Grace Jones cameo and all the trademarks of Puffy's previous string-strewn epic, "Come With Me", while Kim and Lil' Cease make like Bonnie and Clyde trapped in a John Woo movie and do a number on some rival felon. She shows her corrosive mettle on the Pat Benatar sample-slaying, "Don't Mess With Me". Elsewhere the black widow smears herself over salsa rhythms ("No Matter What They Say") and some "Custom Made" moans and groans sampled from Lil Louis' "French Kiss". This pop tart has a poisonous aphrodisiac filling. I--Chris Campion/I

very good! i'm impressed... July 13, 2001 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
i bought this c.d a week ago, an now that i'm in to it, i thought i'll share my thoughts with you...pfirst, let me say, that the reason i bought it, is because i think kim as a very unique voice when she raps, a very funky voice, and i liked her in how many... and lady marmelade. poverall the album is very catchy and all the tracks have tight beats, and kim of course do her job excellent. basically all she sings about is sex, crime, and how she overtop everyone... but hey, what's wrong with that? (:pmy favourits tracks are... well, all the songs are really good but there are 2 tracks here that i don't really like, but they kinda grow on you.. they are: do what u like and off the wall. all the others are really excellent but i have to say pAUNT DOTpis just a gem!!!!!! lil' shanice is really cool and really is cute... the track is very good, the music is really good with beautifull violins in the backround and a very good beat!!! the lyrics are also very good. pwell, now to the recommendations: i recommend this to (i don't have to say- her fans- right? right...) rap and hip hop lovers and... well, everyone that's interested in buying it!!!
Hotter than a pop-tart fresh out of the toaster November 21, 2004 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This has to be the best female hip hop if not the best hip hop album of all time. It is one of those classic albums that you can let play through without skipping any of the tracks. The best songs are how many licks for the nasty factor and aunt dot and revolution for the amazing story telling and flawless rhymes. This album is lil kims best and after listening to it youll never go back to Trina, Eve or anyother of those wannabes. Look out for La bella mafia, its not quite as good but its still amazing.
The finest offering of Hip Hop Music this decade! March 31, 2001 pwill21240@aol.com (London, United Kingdom) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The CD Cover speaks volumes on this album. But, don't let your cynicism believe that it's just another attempt from a ghetto fabulous hip hop rapper who want's to sell enough pointless album's for a few more Bentley's in the driveway. This stunningly produced musical masterpiece is the most slickest of albums I have ever heard! If not *the* best! pHer hardcore lyrics and references to a sexual nature are somehow refreshing and add vital importance to the songs. The first track 'Little drummer boy' is much like one of the tracks off of her first album; powerful and cleverly thought up. The second track 'Custom Made (Give it to you)' is backed by the sound of a woman enjoying the woes of lovemaking and is a stunning backing for her explicit language throughout the song. pThe third track is also a song similar to the ones on her debut album. The 4th track 'Suck my dick' which is a whole new concept to the men hating category of music that had previously been covered by Destinys Child and TLC. This track couldn't be further from them. The name of the song says it all really. Track five which has a latin feel to it and a male vocal curtesy of Mario Winans. Melodic chorus and sexy and husky rap from Kim. pTrack 6 'Revolution' covers the area of mafia style fighting, staged like a spy thriller film this song includes Cease and Puff. Track 7 'How many licks' which has to be one of the finest on the album. Blatantly its entire content is sexual themes. She covers some of her past lovers and how they were. This song is so banging you'll want to turn it up full volume so that you can make your neighbours blush! Sisqo features on the vocals. This song is a mix of club beats, a lightly humoured approach to her sexual side. It is not for the faint hearted. pThe self titled eighth track includes some help from BIG. A unique song with futuristic sounds and beats. Track nine 'No matter what they say' a fun track and a previous single which caused a stir and is bound to fill the dance floor when it plays. 'She Don't love you' another track explicitly rapped, dedicated to Kims superiority over other women. Men will love this track! 'Queen Bitch' with Puff another stylishly mastered track with more rhyming syllabic rap than usual. 'Don't mess with me' an earth shattering song, stunning vocals from a backing taken from an old rock track! Opera sounding voices really make this one of finest for the grand finale of the album. p'Do what you like' a track with old skool styling and up to date crisp clear vocals. 'Off the wall' a peculiar song with unprecidented concepts. A definite club song. 'Right now' a humourous song with a body thumping base. Carl Thomas is vocals on this one and Kim adds some tune to her rapping, wicked! p'Aunt Dot' a song with Lil' Shanice, its classical instrumental backing is kicking. But if you prefer Kim in her toe tapping beats, then I'd skip past this one. 'Hold On' with Mary J Blige is the only ballad styled song on the album. Its beat is mellow and calming. The last track on this album 'I'm human' is the greatest dance styled track from a hip hop artist. The vocals on this track are spine tingling to the point of all hair on end. Its another futuristic song, which you could see being a possible number one single. Kims on top form as her album comes to a close, she revs up for the last track and gives your stereo the time of its life! pI love this album! Plain and simple! Lots of people said that she changed too much! But, for her fans that preferred the her debut, there are plenty of tracks to please them. As for the rest of the tracks, well it only explains why I chose to listen to hip hop music. Its style changes rapidly and she's way ahead with this offering. If you have a posh car, then this is the album to test its equally posh sound system with. If you blush easily or are intimidated by overly sexual women, then you should avoid this album. It will make you feel quite naughty listening to her blatant and graphic lyrics which associate to genitalia, sexual techniques and adultery. There isn't really an Eminem styled violent streak to this album, it is basically an album dedicated to everything that this woman loves; sex, money and her flawless talent at writing songs. This woman enters an area of hip hop that no other female has dared to, I advise you to get this if you want to have the best party of your life. You'll be playing it 24/7 and you'll savour the day you shelled out to buy it and then you'll wonder what tripe you listened to before she released it!
Queen Bitchin! June 29, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
When she's not too busy modelling for Versace and taking pot shots (literally) at Foxy Brown, Lil Kim is also a pretty damn good rapper, as this ghetto fabulous masterpiece proves.pFirst single No Matter What They Say allowed Kim to shake her tiny butt over wild salsa rhythms and blasted this album to number 1 in America with its infectious groove.pThe rest of the album follows a similar pattern, by combining nasty hardcore rhymes with slick commercial beats (provided by P Diddy, Rockwilder and a legion of production dons).pThere may only be two topics of dicussion here (crime and sex) but Kim's outrageous personality, wit and filthy sense of humour make sure there's never a dull moment.pThe most engaging parts of the record lyrically are those when Kim tries something a little bit different, like the role reversal confusion of Suck My Dick and the menacing Japanese pop of I'm Human.pHowever, there's still plently of fun to be had in the form of How Many Licks, where Kim recounts her vigorous sex life in explicit detail and Sisqo asks her How many licks does it take til you get to the centre of it? What could he be talking about?pFoxy Brown comes in for some serious stick on Who's Number One? and Kim bigs herself up on Queen Bitch 2, but she also shows a more human side on her tribute to BIG Hold On.pOverall, Notorious KIM is as intelligent, filthy and funny as rap gets, and is presented in a slick and accessible package. Foxy will have to pull out something special to topple Kim in the female MC stakes now.
THE QUEEN OF RAP February 13, 2002 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
What can you say about Lil' Kim except that she is the undesputed Queen of Rap and this, her second album proves she has no real rivals. Her style and presence on the mic, put her in a different class. All the tracks are top class but the stand outs have to be NOTORIOUS KIM, CUTSOM MADE and WHO'S NUMBER ONE? any fan of Hip-Hop should buy this album NOW you won't be disappointed. This is TOP CLASS.
