LL Back With The Harcore! September 12, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After talk of LL going soft on his last two albums (Mr. Smith, Phenomenon) he flew back to queens to produce the masterpeice that is G.O.A.T. (The Greatest Of All Time) with the intent on re-instating his place as the true king of hip-hop. This album has everything, as usual there are the tracks for the honeyz (Imagine That, Hello, Take It Off, U Me) and L has also laced the album with a couple of real deep, insightfull tracks such as This Is Us and Homicide which LL speaks from the heart on real subjects that really matter! The bulk of this album though is LL re-introducing himself to the streets, with hardcore anthems such as Can't Think, Queens Is, Farmers, LL Cool J and title track The G.O.A.T.. This album also sees LL addressing former beefs with Any Given Sunday star Jamie Foxx on the track U Can't F**k With Me and his arch nemisis Canibus on Back Where I Belong. pThe album is not 100% perfect due to one or two weak links but overall this is an amazing album with tracks for absolutely everyone, including the three bonus tracks Ill Bomb, M.I.S.S. I, and Shut Em Down. After the dissapointing Phenomenon album it is hard to beleive that LL still has the abiltiy to produce such a great album which I feel is one of the greatest albums of 2000 so far. This is LL's best work in years as The G.O.A.T. shows LL spitting fire with a ferocity we haven't seen from him in almost 10 years, and a must buy for all LL and/or hip-hop fans!
Even better than the title suggests... December 5, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
At first I thought the title was a little crazy - LL Cool J Greatest of All Time? Yeah right...but I went along and bought it...and GOAT doesn't go halfway to describe how good this album actually is. The incredible beats in Imagine That is shortly followed by easily the best track on the album 'Take It Off'. 'Farmers' is also full of quality and the album chills out a little until it blazes a few tracks from the end - 'Shut Em Down' is a masterpiece. Definitely one of the hottest hip-hop albums of 2000 - top 5 without a doubt.

This is eaisly ll's best lp to date the album features apperances from redmeth, dmx, xzibit ,snoop, jayo felony ,ja rule and amil. the trax are catchy and the music damn good. track 14. and 7. are 2 of the best in the album. i recommend this to you if you r a hardcore rap fan or not because all the tracks are different and will suite your taste always.
Excellent September 12, 2000 This album is Da Bomb! LL scores big time with this one, the whole album is packed with kool grooves. the style of music in GOAT is much different to LL's previous albums, this time its more hard and edgy, so don't expect to find too many grooves like Loungin' or Hey Lover, but instead, there are some wicked rap tunes. From the intro to the bonus track, this album rocks! pCool tracks include: Imagine that, Back where I belong (feat. Ja Rule), Fuhgidabowdit, Homicide, The GOAT, and the international bonus track shut'Em down (from Any Given Sunday soundtrack).pAlso, he disses Canibus to hell where he belongs.pLL Cool J, Greatest of All Time!
LL Cool J is back in style September 13, 2000 greebo@nannyoggs.fsnet.co.uk (England) Its been quite a while since we last saw an album from LL Cool J (aka James Todd Smith). Luckily, LL's notable absence from the music industry while pursuing an acting career hasn't made him lose his touch. LL has always been one of the best and most popular rappers in the business and a veteran of over ten years at that, so his return to music had great expectations. With G.O.A.T he has exceeded these expectations. Sure, the title, 'The Greatest Of All Time', takes a lot to live up to but LL shows he can pull off what most rappers can't these days and keep releasing quality music which actually gets better with age! There is not one song on this album not worthy of release as a single. This is LL's greatest album yet. Buy it now!
