5 out of 5 stars what a rare bird has landed amoung us   October 17, 2000

The first track, I Fell Out Of A Tree, has all the flash and fire of vintage Kenickie. And that's a good thing, in my book.pThe second track, Good Morning Sunshine, has a heartbreaking drifting wooziness. It makes me want to run and organize her enrollment in a 12 step program, poor little thing.pThe third track, To Have A Home, is sweet and beautiful in Laverne's effortless trademark way. It is definitely skeletal and is clearly marked as a Demo. So it's kind of a trowaway track.pThe fourth track, Some Kind Of Other Presence, is beautiful, sweet and smooth.pOverall, it's a beautiful, if somewhat one-note, effort. If I had to pigeon hole it, I'd put it in the Lullabye Rock genre. This seems to be becoming more prevalent: witness the popularity of the Beta Band and Moby's Play.pI totally go nuts for Laverne when she's acting sassy, but if I have to settle for lullabyes, then there is noone I'd rather have sing them to me then sweet sweet Lauren L.

5 out of 5 stars Superb - Her best work ever   September 26, 2000

Lauren back at her best. Some of the tracks on Get In lacked an edge but this has all the qualities of Millionare Sweeper and Acetone etc. plus a new maturity in songwriting. Buy it.
