Amazon.co.uk Review Billie's not the sweet and innocent pop starlet she once was, becau se Billie's learnt to be sexy. More than just adding Piper to her name, her complete pop overhaul means that the sugary sweet melodies, cutesy vocals and songs about playing music loud because she wants to and asking boys if they have a girlfriend are all gone. Instead, her second album is awash with sophisticated tunes, slickly stylised production and seductive vocals--even on the girlie "Ring My Bell", the beats are sexy, the groove is sultry and every word is breathlessly moaned. Her second album was always going to be more grown up. For starters, Billie's not fifteen anymore, but with Britney fever gripping the planet almost as soon as Billie had put out first single, this transformation was essential if she was going survive as a popstar. And as transformations go, the pneumatic pop and RB tinge of singles "Day And Night" and "Something Deep Inside", and the All Saints-styled "Run That By Me" make this a pretty spectacular one, putting her up there with Britney Spears, while keeping a UK edge that ensures she's still a little bit Billie. The best teen pop effort on my shelf! August 12, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This album contains the rockin uptempo number one smash Day and night and the r n b influenced something deep inside, which was also a high charter at number 4! -unfortunatly the portraid as hippiesh walk of life eneterd at an undeserving number 24! The album overall is a fantastic album and her vocals have came down the line alot since her first effort Honey to the bee, this album has most kinds of songs you need although there is only one song that almost resembles a ballad, but thats alright cos ballads can sometimes be a waist of space!Theres a heavy willa ford influence On the pop trackring my belland a great r n b influenc onBring it on theres very mellow rock tracks like what game is this, and run that by me and of course theres the sweet pop album fillers like promises, one of the best songs, besides the ones released and perhaps every track on the album,is The tide is high It sounds strangely familiar, I think it samples an old song! the one downer is the track Because of you -There is one simple way this track could be fixed...speed it up!..It sounds like a disco song in slow motion, and I dont think that was the desired affect that producers wanted!pAll in all, the best teen pop effort Ive got on my shelf, Ill buy other c.ds, but I always come back to this one!, Its ashame it didnt do better in the charts!...it should of done!...she should release more songs off this album -theres loads of songs that could be hits!
Perfect follow-up to Honey To The B December 10, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Billie Piper's 2nd album was released 2 months ago. Called Walk Of Life, as her brand new single, it is a brilliant mix of dynamic pop and more mature songs, and shows how much talented the young lady is. Not a best-seller yet, and unfortunately not a grower it seems, this album is however one of the greatest of the year, and is the perfect Christmas gift.pWith great happy songs like Ring My Bell or What Game Is This, that combine pop and RB, and slowers ones, as Walk Of Life and Promises, Billie (Piper) shows that there isn't only Britney in the teen kingdom! She has everything : great songs, and a powerful voice. You shouldn't hesitate a minute!
this will be number one October 1, 2000 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
billie is the best this will have day and night on it and something deep in side billie had had 3 number ones . day and night got to number 1, something deep inside got to number 4 and I heard thee's a lot of great songs on it, so buy it!
Fantastic October 3, 2000 This album is a real improvement over the 1st. It's so much better with a more RnB feel to it. By far the most impressive song is Walk Of Life with earlier singles Something Deep Inside and Day Night also standing out. This album is excellent all over and Billie has really grown up since her last effort. Definately worth buying!
It's okay February 8, 2001 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Billie Piper and Billie seem to be two different people. Who would have thought after 'Because we want to' that she would release a song like 'Something Deep Inside'? I have always been a sort of half-hearted fan of Billie, as she seemed to grow up as my music taste did. I love 'Day and Night' and 'Something Deep Inside' although I am not very keen on 'Walk of Life'. I love Billie Piper's music, but am not at all keen on her performances - I think she tries too hard to be a Britney Spears when she would be much better at being herself. Her dances leave something to be desired. However, I cannot truly fault her music, which is after all what matters. I often find the chorus of 'Something Deep Inside' going through my head, and it is the song that i most commonly sing whilst in the bath, a compliment indeed! I find Billie to be a fantastic singer, although not comparing to some other names in pop.
